Been sober for over 8 years now and not once stepped into AA, though I had considered it a few times. I'll never understand why, but one day I just woke up and mentally said, "Enough," and haven't had a drop since. I look back trying to rationalize why I came to that sudden decision, as nothing out of the ordinary occurred the night before - yet another pass out drunk/wake up hungover on a weekday - but something must have clicked in my brain. As for AA, if I ever do go one day and it's seeping with more political BS, I'd never go again.

Same here but I think for me it was that I got tired of drinking until I puked that's how I was when I dank . I went to AA because he liked it more than NA I didn't need it because hadn't drank for years I was just curious but there wasn't anything political just people that felt like telling their stories telling them if they didn't want to they didn't have to people that clean were just appreciative & nice but I don't know how it is now.
