This is a look into the last days of the St.Thomas Ford Assembly Plant. Both music composer Zac Buck and I worked there as temps until its final days.

Great job on the video, guys. I retired a few years prior to the closing, 38 years of service. It was a great place to work. We built a quality car and the place was just teeming with wonderful people. Thanks for this.

I don't know how I have never seen this video, but it is the most beautiful thing I have ever watched... brings tears to my eyes to see this. Truly the best vehicle ever created. I am so proud to own one. I wish I could go back in time and see this with my own eyes.

Great video. I was at Atlanta Assembly building the Taurus when it closed. It’s an eerie feeling when that last car rolls off the line.

If you are ever a billionaire and don’t know what to do with your money. Make the world a better place by rebuilding this plant and the panther platform cars it made! That’s something we all would appreciate and is the best way to spread the money around the world!

It would be sweet to buy the rights to the panther platform You could make all kinds of vehicles on it. You could use it to build a regular vic as well as a ute/ranchero type vehicle and a wagon/suv type vehicle
@tlabadiebutnot34053 жыл бұрын
If that would happen I hope you also buy the rights to the Vic

Awesome Video. It almost kinda brings a tear to your eye. Everytime i see footage of this factory where they made these amazing engineering masterpieces, i think, June of 2000 my MGM rolled down that very production line.

Well done, and thanks for sharing. I'm the proud owner of a Marauder and a Grand Marquis built on the line.

You actually got to build the vic? Do you realise how badly I always wanted to. You guys built one hell of a car. I'm on my 3rd... If it wasn't for the vic, I'd be dead right now. I got hit by a semi in my last one. the semi was doing 100kmh and I walked out relatively unharmed other then my back and neck hurt. This is the saddest video I think I've ever seen. I think Ford should've kept the last vic though. Not sold it to some random country. It should've stayed at the Ford Headquarters. Quite possibly the one crown vic that every crown vic owner in the world wants.

I own a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Built there :) My Dad was one of the Supervisors at the Plant. Rick Richardson. I miss him every day and I still think that maybe if the plant hadn't closed he might still be here today and wouldn't have had to go to Michigan to get a job at a different plant and inevitably have a heart attack. But that's just me.

I agree 100%, but it needed to be updated. An independent rear suspension, and optional 3.7 V6 or 5.0 Coyote would have made it competitive. AWD would have been nice too!

Perhaps, but then it wouldn't be a crown vic any longer - RWD V8

Ford stop selling the Crown Vic to the general public in 08 and would only sell it to for fleet orders and police departments, so if people wanted a vic they had to pay the extra premium to get the Grand Marquis or the Town Car which the most of the general public in 08 due to the economic down turn just couldn't justify the costs, so the purchased less expensive vehicles that matched the 20k starting cost of newer Crown Victoria.

I am sure the Kathleen Wynne is proud. She has driven more manufacturing out of Ontario, especially with noncompetitive hydro rates. She would rather have us all weaving baskets. It is a tragedy when a plant like this closes. It seems that with every free trade agreement, more of our plants close and more of theirs open. I am no Trump admirer, but, he has it right on "free trade". With Wynne and lopsided trade agreements, it is a miracle we make anything in Canada.

Horrible, I'm sure Mexico is appreciative of all the new jobs. They claim it's too expensive to retool a factory for another car but it doesn't seem like it was too expensive to build a new factory a few years earlier in a country with no labor laws.

It is so hard to believe it's been almost a decade since one has been built and they are still highly sought after cars. I built the fuel bundle for them from 1993 - 2000 no telling how many millions of cars in my time. I started making them with Galfan, then Stainless steel, in the end with Ny-gal. This platform was what paid all the bills and everybody's salary for the plant that I worked at in Cartersville Bundy tubing/T. I. Automotive. I took great pride in what I made. This place boomed during my years there we built the 9j (crown vic/town car/grand marquis) and DN101(Taurus/Sable) we worked 7 days a week to keep up. Great times sad to see all these folks lose their jobs. Really sad to see (STAP) was torn down now.

It is too bad they didn't give a proper funeral for Buick City, Chevy In the Hole, AC Spark Plug, and Fisherbody 1 in Flint, Michigan. I can certainly understand how these people feel. The loss of an assembly plant has the same affect on a community as the loss of a family member or loved one. I know that Flint will never be the same, and I am sure it's that way with the community of St. Thomas.

Remember to thank Bill Ford Jr. for closing the Wixom plant. The most awarded, the most cost efficient, the highest quality, most profitable automobile plant in automotive history. By running the Ford Motor Company like his daddy Bill Ford Sr. ran the Lions football team. Right into the dirt. All that excellent automobile building talent thrown into the streets of Wixom and onto the I-96 freeway. Billy Jr. threw them all away like dust in the wind. I hope none of those former Wixom plant employees ever buy another Ford vehicle. Billy's decision made G.M. the ONLY luxury automobile builder in the United States. Thanks Bill.
