I totally agree with you on this. Doom metal scene is still the cleanest one, where there are not any of those stupid-ass megadeth vs metallica comparisons or idiotic quarrels over "which band is the coolest" debates. This scene is of total peace, where people just worry about enjoying the tunes :)

I think this song presents one of the most emotional acoustic guitar sections ever... simple, simple repetition, beautiful and melacholy- it almost expresses the loss and reflection of some sublime. It takes a lot for a song to hit me like that, personally

Their later work has ever more awesome song structures, which could have been elevated even more with female vocals. One of my favorite songs too. The funny thing is, it became my favorite while dreaming. I.e i used to go to sleep listening to music with headphones. If the music gets tiring, i would just take them off and just nod off.. but ever so often there is music which can play at deafening levels and i can still sleep listening to it and hearing the music while dreaming gives a very etheral experience.

Well I like most of the bands you listed too. Arch Enemy,Opeth and Funeral truly kick ass. But I also enjoy a lot of brutal stuff: At The Gates Behemoth Burzum Darkthrone Morbid Angel Slayer and so on and so on... I really like most of the metal, but the way I see it, music always has to have some meaning,some point. If it's just brainless screaming about Satan or mutilating women then I hate it. :)
