Those kids were literally talking to each other, and not paying attention to what you were asking. lol The kid explaining to the other kid what you guys were doing with the phone and the map. I find it hilarious that everyone stops to crowd around your tuktuks, and I can tell you that it's literally just because you're white. It may be coupled with the fact that you have all your cameras and music and stuff, but mostly because you're white.

actually the indian currency is weak compared to USD or pounds. 1 pound equals 100 rupees and 1 dollar equals 65 rupees. so the bill was huge definitely but they paid very less in their own currency. India is very cheap than US or UK.
