My favorite thai place is actually 2 streets down from bangklyn. It's called Malli Thai, I've been ordering take out there since 2014. Food is always on point, they don't cheap out on ingredients and the flavors always on point. Love their thai iced teas, have multiple flavors.

hello fb , thai food making it in north city that far... were part of the student crowd that ate near 1st 2nd 3rd avenues - the larb first shop was on 2nd avenue by 4th street - there were 8 types (pork , chicken , fish) with wrap leaves. the larb is minced meat and notice you were eating with spoon with all orders in there. thought flat plates were eating with forks. elle for pepper hot not liquid hot

The place in Harlem especially just looked like real Thai food. My wife is Thai and I’ve spent a lot of time there. The only real Thai we’ve found in California was Pa Ord Noodle in Thai Town in LA. Other than at the Wat (Thai Temple). Completely different from what you find at Thai restaurants in the USA, adapted for Western taste buds, way too much sugar, no spice or complexity, etc. Even in BKK you will get much more authentic Thai food (especially street food) if you venture just a few miles away from the touristy areas. In Ladprao (Northeast BKK) I wouldn’t see another Westerner for a week.

Siam sunset is solid 10/10 in LA. There are more authentic places in L.A. than New York. More authentic Thai food in NYC are in Queens. The ones in the city are at best 8/10. Fish cheeks is overrated and overpriced in my opinion. I'd try the Harlem one even though the one in Fidi is just steps away but looks meh

@@reinventingada thanks. Good to know. Will check out these tips when in LA and NYC. My wife is Thai so eating a lot of authentic food at home. Grew up eating bland food in the Midwest. Now the “super spicy” food in the restaurants tastes like 1 (if that) on a scale of 1-10. We’ll go to Queens and check out LA again.
