If that was the case, you might as well tell Indonesian people in Indonesia that they are related to the Dutch. What I love about Chinatown and Chinese and Asian culture is the quality and quantity of food you get for your dollar. This is something I’ve noticed is very similar to the Latino community. At least in nyc both communities have somewhat made a living in the food industry and our restaurants are affordable enough to serve those in industry. I grew up in queens in flushing and main st, busy mall, new world mall was a second home as a Colombian American. Chinese-latino restaurants are the physical embodiment of the fusion our two cultures share especially both trying to make it and thrive in nyc it’s really beautiful.

Loved this Chino Latino view from the Caribbean but the largest Chinese Latin community is in Peru. Many of their national dishes have clear Chinese (and Japanese) influences. The city of Mexicali in northern Mexico on the California border is a Chinese/Cantonese city with over 100 years of Chinese migration here. Brazil has a large Chinese community too in Sao Paolo! The foods in these regions are incredible. If you’re in Cali, go to Mexicali. The Chinesca (Chinatown) is an amazing part of town. The food is soooooo good! Chinese Mexican cuisine is out of this world! Mexico City has a large Chinese community too that keeps growing as more Chinese keep immigrating there and now there are 4 chinatowns besides the official/historic/touristy Chinatown!

I was born and grew up in Caracas, Venezuela in the 80s and half of the 90s so for people like me it was very normal to go to school and have people in my community who were from China and many of them where Venezuelan born.
