So happy running into the The Fung Bros.today again. I really appreciate them featuring the restaurants in Chinatown to help our community. If you do see them, don’t hesitate to tell them your favorite restaurants. They are super friendly. I ran into them last night and told them a few restaurants that I hope they will feature one day. Coincidentally, I ran into them today at Carol's Bun, which is one of the restaurants I told them about. I’m not affiliated with any of the restaurants I’ve told them, but these are some of the restaurants with owners who are genuine nice people and have great food with great prices. I was actually very touched to see that they kept their promise to feature them. Can't wait to see it in their next episode!

Your grandfather comes from the same area (shire) that I come from, Hoi San. Please say it the way it is spelled. We are the leading edge of the Chinese diaspora of the mid 1800s. Many of the originals were virtual slaves or indentured labourers going to all parts of the world. It would give me at 81, immense pride if you youngster would learn more of our heritage. Up until 50 years ago, Hoi San was the only dialect heard from London to Halifax to Toronto to NYC to SF to Haiti to Jamaica. I love your site and your youthful exhuberance. Keep up the very good work!

I remember when I was a kid in the early 80's, my uncle will take me to Chinatown to buy food for the whole family on the weekends. We usually stop by the local video store and rent some VHS tape of Chinese dramas. I would eat and watch movies while the adults play mahjong. I think that was pretty typical of Asian families back then, too bad those memorable days are long gone.
