I love 2 anime dubs and in both of them they have a male lead who is utterly enamored with the main character and isn't afraid to call them cute and say why they like them and also both characters have voice actors who are clearly having way too much fun with the role

That's likely on purpose - she really likes Takeda, in the manga she goes out of her way to get him on her side wherever possible, including stealing the first dance with Takeda at the campout fire. (don't worry Takeda dances with Nishimura the next morning because he didn't want to not dance with her)
