I bet the whole of Germany could feel the earth shaking. These monstrous shows in the early 80s were the pinnacle of P-Funk's musical power. And mind it, this line up is missing the whole squad. Maceo, Bernie, Philippe Wayne, and many other funkateers weren't there for this show or maybe the tour. But that didn't stop this jackhammer band from pounding the audiences. Each musician is exceptionally great at what they do and to make it freakier, there is George who brings out the wilder side out of them. Blackbird McKnight played with Miles Davis, we all know what Dennis can do, Greg Boyer on the Trombone is a master of adding humor to his solos but with a lot of complexity behind it, Sandra-the backup singer took it to church (my favourite part of the show), Rodney Skeet Curtis is in my opinion the most committed funk bass player ever. When George asked him if he wanted to solo, he simply refused because he wanted to hold that groove so bad and knew that it was the best thing for the moment. And last but not at all the least, the live sound engineers who mixed the show very well so we could watch it and feel the beat after all these years. I LOOOVE KZbin. ❤️
