"Put it right there where we can lose it later" Haha, glad I am not the only mechanic guilty of this. There are a lot of comments you make in your clips and videos that I can fully relate to as an industrial equipment mechanic. Good stuff man. Even though you fix forklifts (mostly, I know you probably fix a lot of stuff), and I fix railroad equipment, there is a lot of carry over haha. I would like to make videos like you do about some of the repairs we do in the field, unfortunately it would be a quick way to lose my job as we are not supposed to have our phones or cameras out around the tracks for safety reasons

Nice fix . Two best investments I made for repairs were a 3d printer and a hakko desoldering pump , the printer has already paid for itself in spare parts it's produced and the hakko has paid in time saved and parts salvaged . And if you can't repair it at least save every last nut , screw , spring and bolt it contains before dumping the remains , they always come in handy .

I had one of these break on me where the anvil wouldn't seat deep enough to get the snap ring in place. I decided to try and warranty it so I went to my local Milwaukee service center. They didn't even ask for a receipt, they had me put my name and phone number on a piece of paper, took the old one away, and they got me a new one for free in a day or two. Highly recommended lol

@@FunkFPV Definitely look into their warranty centers, or even just sending it to waukee for warranty. You could have a 19 date code tool, which would be warrantied till 24, it breaks, send to waukee and they'll just send a new one. Probably with a new 21 date code, get another two years from warranty

@@brooklynkeith2877as a DeWalt man myself, I don’t think there’s much argument you can make for DeWalt > Milwaukee. I despise that place. I ended up in possession of a harbor freight rolling chair among other trash tools and it’s such a piece of junk that always gets stuck. It still works so I can’t bring myself to throw it out or donate it since it’s technically still useful. Buying another one just for the sake of a different brand would contribute to environmental harm regardless where it’s made. Looking at that brand on the fake leather seat helps me take my mind off the rust bucket I’m working on for a split second, so that’s a plus.

Never knew those were actual superstitions, im a very new mechanic i have 1yr~ under the nuts now. I swear by those superstitions, literally today i put an A/C compressor in, put it almost all back together but left the wheel i used to get a good angle on it, off. Service writer came back by and said hey how much longer ya thinkin, i hit em with mmm bout 30-40, just had to pull a vacuum and charge it….. 3 hours later i figured out why it wasnt properly charging. Due to the placement of the high side schrader valve, i didnt have the line square and flush on the valve, i was a second away from ripping it all back apart to see if i ripped an o-ring or forgot to torque a bolt down. The job itself took 30~ mins, the problem took around 4 hours. Yet i never learn to just not say a damn thing.

The only improvement to this video would be to not put the iron down/away dry. Cleaning with brass wool is great, but when you clean the iron you expose the plating to oxidation. Tin the iron before setting it aside so that the solder can protect the plating.

I think a bit of super glue would have done fine... as for the soldering you dont need the flux pen, they help with small surface mount jobs... as for not having luck with the solder sucker, thars becausd its a crappy one... i can see you have the skill and understanding of whats going on and its just practice... as for getting the tags clean if you feel the need just get a tiny brass brush get the iron on it and brush away.. also if you leave a bit of solder on the tip it helps to protect the coating from oxidizing when your not using it, clean just before you are about to use if....👍

Probably not an intentionally designed weak point, but still a weak point in usage. When injection molded parts are designed there are two main rules that need to be followed. First rule is to draft everything so it pops out of the molds easily. Second is that you want uniform wall thickness to avoid sinking. The hole in the middle is to avoid sinking. A pin could be over molded there for sure, but that might double or triple the cost of that one part. Consider the pin is its own part with its own tolerances to deal with, that pin needs to be placed into the mold, this all costs more money and is more complicated than pumping out solid plastic parts. Theres also a higher risk for damaging the tool, all it takes is for that pin to pop out and then get smashed between the tools.

If i recall a few videos back you have a dewalt battery grease gun. I am having issues with mine where when I pull the trigger it pumps like I am barely pulling it. You have that issue at all?

I’ve been using those for about 9yrs. I’ve never had that problem. If you’re lucky. You just have some shit built up in the trigger that needs to be cleaned out. Beyond that, I’m not really sure what to suggest. Only because I have never had a failure with my DeWalt grease gun beyond my hose getting a hole in it.

@@KaaiHawaiianDeathMetal I think the motor is dying talked with a mac tools guy and he said it's fairly common. If I hold the trigger when doing it and smack it on the ground it goes back to normal. I usually go through about 3 tubes a week so it gets used all the time.

@@fabiololstein1307 3 tubes a week? Damn. I think I used 4 tubes on one job site yesterday. Good luck getting it fixed man. Or replaced. Like Funk said in his DeWalt grease gun video. It’s worth more than most people you know

@@KaaiHawaiianDeathMetal that tool is worth its weight in gold for me. I am in a profession I shouldn't be due to medical reasons. I neefmd surgery on both wrists for carpal tunnel and a partial shoulder replacement of both as well. Worked 3 years with s torn biceps tendon. Then after I got it fixed was when I was made aware of needing the joint replacement so my day of hand pumping grease are done except for certain kind of grease fittings.

Only when the battery is dying. I’d pull the hose off and see if it pumps any better. There might be a restriction or something stuck in the fitting.

There is always Milwaukee eservice. I know you have to use the tool so it's inconvenient, but you can send in the tool and they either fix it or send you a new one.
