the most underated & the 2nd most talented musician next the Prince himself from the entire Minneapolis Music Dynasty jesse Just has that "it" factor. His guitar playing is incredible. I would rank him equal to it not better than Prince himself. Jesse was then what Prince became in time!

Great memories! A very interesting time to be young in cities like Los Angeles and New York City, where I was growing up at the time. JESSE JOHNSON is a stellar guitarist! One of the best in the game. He also released some great albums over the years. My favorites would be SHOCKADELICA and Bare My Naked Soul which were released in 1986 and 1996. His last album Verbal Penetration was a double album of quality funk and soulful music that I also recommend. And of course, he played incredible lead guitar and contributed some great tracks to the last two TIME albums. Big props to Jesse Johnson! A true funk soldier. I heard that he's working on another album of genuine and organic funk.

Jesse Johnson flew in like a Superman from Minneapolis back in 1985 to save the year, representing and bringing in the pure soul and funk sounds of MPLS! Prince had to take a backseat that year, because songs like Raspberry Beret, Paisley Park, America and Pop Life were pretty cool, but IMO couldn’t measure up to what was on the Jesse Johnson’s Revue album back in 1985.
