The first episode of series 1 was easily the best of the series. I couldn't stop laughing from the middle point onwards, when Jim came out of the toilet as they were moving the sofa downstairs and was trying to squeeze past Jackie. Good dry humor

Teal Storn series 1 was directed by someone different to series 2-6. I personally didn't like some of the camera shots used in series 1. Jim has a normal voice in series 1. In series 2-6 mark heap puts on a bit of a voice for Jim which I personally find funnier than his voice in series 1. They're the main reasons.

​@@albertwarren641 I've never seen anyone judge a sitcom on the minor variation of one character's voice and, I quote, 'some of the camera shots', but fair enough. In my view series 1 (and to an extent series 2, although you like that anyway) is brilliantly written and performed, but sadly the show crashes to its knees in unbearable OTT pantomime style from the very start of series 3. Any trace of creativity, nuance or talent completely vanished in 2014, and six years later the episodes are just as smugly moronic. For cringe comedy to do it's job, the wacky situations needs to be believable, otherwise the cringe is coming from Robert Popper and the cast rather than the characters and situations - they are somehow trying to get the audience to sympathize with said characters whilst the execution is incredibly cartoonish and camp. Needless to say it doesn't work. Of course there is a lot of appeal in this style of comedy, as I'm sure you would remind me, but to me it's out of place here.
