Anirudhsuki Gakirei Plenty of Japanese people are at least some what familiar with English because English is the language of business. I'm not saying there aren't plenty of Japanese people who don't understand English but English is probably the most commonly used language, even in places you wouldn't expect. None of this is relevant though because op said subbed, meaning they can just read what's being said anyways.

I hate it when people say that Japanese is superior to English. It’s more like the original for the most part is always gonna be better than the imitation. This is a great example of a dub not trying to imitate the sub(Japanese dub)and it worked perfectly. Just for context watch western cartoons and movies in Japanese and it’s so jarring and bizarre. The sub is mostly always better than the dub(imitation)but I have three examples of dubs that I prefer and those are ghost stories,konosuba and dragon ball.
