@reynirheidbergstefansson2343
@reynirheidbergstefansson2343 4 жыл бұрын
They would need to know Morse and some Q signals, but they would not need to be hams. OTOH, the signal does exist, and now (free for the taking) the idea to flash it at a fumblethumbed pilot, be it by a controller or another pilot. You do know, right, that the first half of the Q signals is aeronautical? *Edit:* The big problem would be that tower signal lamps are not set up for morse, only steady/blinking colour signals. That leaves… what? Either "Stop" (steady red) or "Caution" (alternating red/green)?

Actually, I was on board of a flight from Amsterdam to Toronto ones, about 2 years ago. The Captain did his Passenger announcement and moments later he asked for pushback on the P.A. with the Cabin. The purser (probably) replied back on the P.A. that he was not certain if there was any ATC on board. The Captain then replied, I remember it vividly: "Well I ask Ground then!"

(CFI) Tell Him Your Ready To Taxi" Tower Cessna Is Ready To Taxi: ATC Tower: keying mic button. "Ah The Cessna Wants To Taxi...What Do I Say? Tell Him To Taxi To The Runway. @@KC_NZ Yes, there's a phone number that the ATC will give to the pilot that they have to call within a couple of days. By doing so, there can be a lot more detail given over an incident that happened. The pilot may not necessarily be in trouble, but often is, so it's kind of a dreaded thing to hear that over radio.

I used to work certain radio equipment in the army. We had to manually engage our carrier wave before transmitting our signal, then disengage our carrier wave again. One night on an exercise, one of the other stations on our net (some germans) forgot to disengage his carrier wave, and kept transmitting a tone for the next 12 hours. Our log read "Still carrier wave from the germans" every half hour.

This is very funny. And I hate to be that guy....the guy who's super fun at parties. But this same kind of thing happened in a very, very different kind of situation. When a certain hijacker in September of 2001, thought he was making an announcement to the passengers, when in fact, he was talking to center ("...we have some planes..."). Again, sorry for the reminder, but I just thought it was interesting.

I wonder if any of the controllers listening in actually sat back and relaxed

This is why you use the hand mic and not your headset mic for PAs.

JFK Ground: Hello everyone, looks like the airport is uhhhh... saying that we can land much ummm.. faster than usual and we need to hurry up and get on the ground, so it's going to be a little bit of a bumpy landing, but don't worry that's normal. Now go have a cup of coffee and prepare for landing. Cabin PA: Mayday mayday this is American 292 we're having an engine problem, thrust is falling and were losing altitude fast
