I live in Australia, Perth, in the suburbs we don't get this kind of interaction or closeness with the birds. I always have out two above-ground dishes of fresh water and I feed a little group of doves some sunflower seeds. They've taken a year or two to get used to me, and are far less afraid, but they tend to fly away if I come near, within a couple meters or so. We get butcher birds, their one of my faves, along with the occasional kookaburra, plus some ibis and plenty of wattlers, honey eaters, magpies and crows. Last year I even saw a sacred kingfisher at our larger water bowl, my goodness he/she was pretty, so much colour, blues, greens, beautiful! Plus we have the southern book-book owl who I've been hearing outside my window since the start of autumn a few months ago. Lots of birds fly over our backyard, the rainbow lorakeets seem to stop off and have a go at our bottlebrush but don't really get down to eye-level. I've been seeing the pink and grey cockatoos, and the rare Carnaby's black cockatoo's fly about recently. Just wish they'd all stop in at my house! We have no cats (and I shoo any randoms away during the day), supply fresh water in two sized bowls, provide some seed and good grubs for meals, what more could a bird want!
@nu.wa.n8 жыл бұрын
i think the birds near suburbs are more careful. even if there aren't any cats in your own backyards, the stray ones will have a go at a bird if they get a chance. i found a big tabby hiding behind my bird bath once. also the loris in the suburbs have a lot of nectar trees in gardens and roads, this place in the video seems to be more thickly wooded. they probably come there habitually to get a reliable feed.

Interesting hypothesis and I mostly agree! But I don't think he (or she?) is a "troll". Kooky is 1.) basically lazy, and 2.) probably hoping for a bit (more) of mince meat. The birds that visit daily remind me of the ANOVA statistical test (analysis of variance) i.e. there is more trolling within species than between species. Just had a visit from kooky and the loris right now and kooky just sits there while the loris squabble amongst themselves but more or less ignore kooky. Me too! Since I was saved just over 4 years ago I just love the Lord's birds and His creatures! It's like my whole life up until then I was seeing things in black and white and after I was saved I saw things in colour for the first time. The more I walk with the Lord the more I hate man made stuff and the more I love creation. It is all clothed in beauty for His glory. I love how God has perfectly made every creature by His infinite wisdom not only fit for its purpose with all the physical attributes and skills it needed but they are beautiful too. You can see His love and mercies and He teaches me so much through His creation. Oh He is so beautiful and so are His creatures who have suffered so much from mankind's rebellion and sin. God bless you dear friend. The kookaburras are so funny because they sound like they laugh and the parrots are rainbow lorikeets. We get the lorikeets where we live in western Victoria Australia. We also get eastern and crimson rosellas which are just gorgeous. The rosellas chuckle to each other like a squeeky toy. Australia has some beautiful creatures. God has given each continent such unique and awesome creatures and habitats. I'm not big on technology but I'm so grateful I can see all His creatures from all around the world which I wouldn't get the blessing of seeing otherwise.

With the music and everything, it makes me feel like these green birds are like the peasants in France while the other birds are like some high order thing.

Nique, thanks so much for showing us those gorgeous Australian birds, so beautiful. That Koohaburra is watching over the parrots like a granddad and if they misbehave he pecks them so they are good boys and eats their seeds with so much mannerism. Edit: I am loving that orchestra so much.

That Kookaburra looks so damn dignified, especially compared to the rest of the horde, and with that music in the background. ^_^

This is such fantastic footage, wow! Such rich bird songs and colors, a real visual treat. Parrots are so droll to watch and the cockatoos are so puffed up with self importance. Your camera angles and clear audio were superb. I love the way the Kookaburra sits nonplussed by the squirming Rainbow Lorikeets and dramatic white Cockatoos. These birds are so gorgeous, lucky you! Thank you for this lovely footage and for the Bach playing in the background.

@2Ryled that kookaburra is a completely wild bird, but has become kind of a pet as he hangs around a lot. He has a nice gentle disposition - most of the time! You are right about the corellas, the same applies to big cockatoos and galahs. They all like to sharpen their beaks on my timber house so I normally shoo them away. But I do allow them to hang around to make brief cameo appearances in my videos!

Wow. I get now why you Aussies call kookaburras "king of the bush". He looks so regal and proper just sitting there amongst all those other crazy birds. It reminds me of that scene in "The Naked Gun" where the baseball game just descends into a mad riot, and Queen Elizabeth is just sitting there, being all regal, with a quiet look of annoyance on her face.
