Two adorable wild kookaburra birds come inside to chill on the couch with me!
They're basically lap cats with wings!
The first cheeky boy is doing everything he can to try to steal a treat whereas the other kookaburra just seems content to chill on my lap.
Lets be honest they're basically adorable fluffy cats with wings 😊
Please check with your local wildlife experts before offering any food to the native wildlife in your area. What I offer these birds is an occasional treat and only a tiny portion of their overall diet.

@@BackyardBirdsofAustralia Hi! The day before yesterday i fed a wild kookaburra for the first time, and i was wondering if it would be ok if i asked you any questions for some advice? :) See, they don't usually come to the yard because of mynah birds, but recently there's been a bit of a shift in bird politics, and the other day i played a kookaburra laughing and within minutes there was one on my line! It came back yesterday too, and that's when i fed it, but it didn't come back today. I could play the recording again but i honestly feel like it would make me a bit of a ****heel for various reasons, to make it think it might have a neighbour that doesn't exist. The thing is i would really like it to come back. I've only watched a few of your videos and I'm not sure how your birb relationship situation originally came about, but i am in inner city Sydney near some pretty massively industrial stuff, and usually only encounter turtledoves and mynah birds, who have tended to collectively harass all larger birds so that they never visit, although this recently did shift a bit. I can't explain how exciting and special it was for me to receive this visit. i wonder what you think, quite literally, about the ethics of luring it back with a recording. i could avoid doing that, but I'm sure it's the only reason it visited in the first place. i would love it to visit for feeds, i could see it was returning food at the time presumably for its chicks or mate, as it would fly of with a piece of beef and then return. I'd be so grateful for any advice ❤️✌️

Our American friends who ever watched Jungle Jim or those early Tarzan tv serials would have heard Kookaburras calling in the 'jungle'. Somebody recorded them laughing and the recording ended up in Hollywood and every movie in the 30s & 40s set in the jungle had a Kooka singing in it somewhere. For Aussies like me it was an extra treat at the movies.

We learned new songs and sang old songs, and sometimes we got to pick our favorite sing a long songs. Well of course I always picked the Kookaburra song! I rarely got to pick a song since since the would randomly pick a pick a kid to request what some to sing. I didn’t even know what a Kookaburra was! Lol I think when my parents took me and my brothers to the San Diego zoo is Southern California, is where I finally saw a Kookaburra, I got so excited! I told my teacher, I saw a real Kookaburra bird! I didn’t get to sing my favorite song that week, darn… I learned news songs I loved! 😉😊

1:26 i love to see when the birds focus on something 🌭😁 i was feeding the crows 3 hours ago. Burger King Chilli Cheese fries from yesterday and a half chicken from a workmate. They fly away with the Chicken wings and spread a huge mess over the products on our company site 😁👍

You must be really loved by the funky birds for them to visit you daily and actually feel comfortable enough to go inside your home. You’re super lucky to be friends with local birds!

Awesome birds. As a whingeing Pom, I've not made it over to Australia yet. My number one bucket list item is to go to Oz, see a NRL match, and see these birds in real life....

This complicity is impressive. I love mammals (especially the prairie dogs with whom I have lived since 1997), but your birds are fascinating where you show us an incredible bonding. I look forward to the wombats for a next episode 💚

That is a good example of "pecking order", in the avian world, with the "shyer" (less dominant) Kooka-B patiently waiting its turn rather than create conflict, before receiving a tasty treat!

Marvelous! The Kookaburras are quite adorable. I agree with clinto56. My neighbors must think I'm nuts, I talk to any kind of nature that I am privileged to have visit me in my back yard here in northeast Pennsylvania.
