I discovered that Morten Aastad started a thread some three months ago asking for something must-related that is funny and makes you laugh or is funny as in weird. Since Morten seems like such a nice dude, I thought I would join in. Perhaps others would care to follow?
Morten's orignal video is here:

Kids in the Hall is a favorite show. I lived close enough to Canada in the States to get CBC broadcasts and used to watch that before Comedy Central picked it up. Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet👏. I have all their albums. Great stuff, probably best described as a mix of 50's twangy rock and big band without the horns.

Hey, that's cool you could watch Kids in the Hall! I have always thought i should get another Shadowy Men album. Do you have a favourite? I only have Savvy Show-stoppers.

some straaaaange lyrics there Peter!! 🙂 and definitely a thread I could look at doing. Anyway... a title I've always been amused by is Careful With That Axe Eugene (I wonder why????) by Pink Floyd Monty Python did a whole album of tunes called Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album (maybe that was Morten's suggestion - I'll check his video out) and finally most stuff by Cardiacs has funny / strange titles. BTW cardiacs are a band well worth checking out if you haven't already. Nice to se you have a MP book. I have several acquired during my youth.

The Cardiacs. I have heard of them and perhaps even heard a song. I remember an artist called The Jazz Butcher who had a great album with a fun song called The Devil Is My Friend. There were some other funny songs and some good lines in other songs. "Yes, it's party time / And you might have to say / It's better than a war / It's party time / And it's better than a cold bath / With someone you dislike". You can get lots of ideas for videos by seeing what the VC is doing. Jump on in!

And the album cover shows a scene from Toronto! Maybe you could do a video on albums that include Toronto in the artwork.

@@musicisajourney I sort of did that already! It was video about albums that depict or picture places I have been, and it included a lot of TO scenes. I didn't come up with the idea, though; it was a sort of a thread 🙂

Ha ha, love it Peter. That first one is almost a twofer! Electric Magma? Sounds like they played A LOT of Zelda! Karaoke Bitch Slap 😄 Oh I love Kids in the Hall. Just watched all of it again this winter. Used to see them on Swedish tv back in the day. Really worked on my Python sensibilities. Funny you mention… Embrionic Robot recently showed the Lou Reed album Ecstacy, which is… a funny looking album, or weird, in of it self, but whenever I see it I think it looks like William Shatner! 😄 Not heard of Hvad Snakker Du Om, but Vesterbro reminds me of the first track on Gasolin’ debut album. Langebro! Do you remember that huge book the Beatles released related to the Anthology series? Shortly after Monty Python released av very similar book. Guess which one I’ve read the most? 🤡 Love that you still have your Garfield! Thank you for doing this Peter, really really enjoyed it! Cheers from Morten, as you said, in Oslo 😊

We might be seeing at least two other people trying out your thread, Morten. maybe it might become a late bloomer? I think it's so cool you're a Kids in the Hall fan. I used to watch ever new episode! I actually had another idea for the start of this video, but I couldn't find my fake blood.

I've gotten a few laughs out of translating some Ningen Isu songs. Kofuku no Negi and Namakemono no Jinsei come to mind.

Is it the translation that comes out strange or the original lyrics are strange? What’s Tokyo Bondage about anyway?
@NGC6144
@NGC6144 3 ай бұрын
@@musicisajourney The original lyrics, the interpretation from translation. Kofuku I imagine was a vague reference to some medieval torture by being impaled from one end to the other with a giant white screw. It's particularly funny with the lyric punchline "Kundalini." The other song "Banzai! to the lazy life" seems a funny way to exemplify not being too motivated in life or at least just dead tired from one's general routine. Also, those lyrics about the landlord. I wonder if it's from personal experience. Maybe it's better I don't know Japanese. Some of their lyrics based on translation seem rather goofy.
@musicisajourney
@musicisajourney 3 ай бұрын
@@NGC6144 I did not know that about Kofuku no Neji. Whoa! I don’t know if some of those lyrics sound less goofy to a Japanese mind or if goofy is what they were going for. Maybe many people can relate to “that landlord”.
