That's cool about the quitting smoking thing. my wife and i did it kinda the same way. she quit about 5 years or so before me. i did it cold turkey, but i had to use every bot of will power i had. i started smoking at 20, and quit at 37. October 24th 2017 was my last cigarette. But that first month was hard. i had chills, anger problems, withdrawals.

In my experience, the easiest way to quit is to just quit cold turkey. Once you get through the withdrawals and misery, it’s so bad you don’t want to go through it again. That’s the only thing that kept me from smoking again, the thought of going through the withdrawal again. It’s not like hard drugs, but it was really bad. Depression, anxiety, absolutely no focus, and then constantly fatigued and miserable. The hunger you get is something else too. I’m a small guy and I started eating constantly, I gained almost 30 lbs the first 6 months until I leveled off and lost the weight. What really helped me was just allowing myself to indulge in whatever craving I had, as long as it wasn’t nicotine. Like “okay I can’t have a cigarette, but I can have a soda”.

Those birds outlive 95% of their owners, I know a few people that have designated caretakers in their wills, so the bird really have the last laugh, common to live 80yrs, unless you got yours when u were born, money's on the bird

PETE, maybe your wife was more of a Social Smoker like my sister was. I was a hard core 3-4 packs a day smoker. I haven't inhaled a cigarette for 5 years now and I don't feel any different and I have COPD which is a nice way of saying I have emphysema. I'm not in bad shape like a lot of people that have smoked but I do wheeze and it's annoying when I try to sleep. And it ISN'T all in your head, it is a chemical addiction and has been proven to be as addictive as heroin. You went through withdrawal which meant it wasn't ALL IN YOUR head. I'm happy for you.
