Unfortunately both Uri Gellar and Peter “The Ripoff” Popoff kept many devout followers. To them, keeping the faith no matter how ridiculous it was was more important to their lives than giving it up. I do not necessarily criticize them because it is even worse today then it was back then and many of us today are guilty of the same thing.

But what was truly stunning was that he knew the waiter or waitress asked me if I would like a beverage at the start of the order process. Now, I ask you, how could anybody in the world have guessed all of those things? Impossible! I'm a true believer now.

Why aren't there TV programmes like this any more? I know you'd need a psychic to be able to get Randi on the show, since he's dead. But this is brilliant! Skepticism, simple logic, and simple tests, that a genuine psychic (or whatever) ought to be able to carry out. But not one of them ever has. Funny.

The problem is that these "psychic" nuts don't feel a need to go on tv anymore. Back in the day you'd have a very small following at best, if any at all. You'd only be able to make it big if you proved yourself to a large group of people, and TV would be the only way. Now any person can go online, pretend to be psychic and post some convincing videos and they'll have a fanbase of idiots right away. It's too easy to find things now. You can just blatantly lie and there will always be some amount of people who'll believe you. Therefore they don't need to go on TV anymore to prove themselves.

I doubt that he "genuinely wants to know if people have powers". He knows with almost absolute certainty that they don't, and that all those people are just fraudsters. His intent is to expose them. But it is very smart to treat them as respectfully as possible, just as a common courtesy, and to avoid as much as possible allegations of intimidation, cheating or other underhanded tactics. And if as a bonus some of them come out and admit that they were mistaken, all the better.
