True and behavior like that needs to be rewarded IMO it’s a matter of trust for the dog. They know there’s boundaries they shouldn’t cross. in this case the dog knew he shouldn’t fling the cat straight off even though he could and probably wanted to. But was also trusting that the owners would officiate the situation in a way that allows the dog to know he’s not getting pushed to the bottom of the totem pole.

Literally my lab. She’s just over 90lbs and our little terrier always tries to mess with her and bully her. Yet my lab never really retaliates because she’s literally the sweetest most gentle dog I’ve ever had. This is so cute. I also admire the Golden Retriever's attempts to reclaim his bed. He really did try to get the kitten to move, but everything he did was also done in a way as to not injure the kitten. The awareness of how small and potentially fragile the kitten was shows how smart dogs are.
