@MegaZeta Жыл бұрын
But _"troll level"_ almost always means _"bad design",_ because an objective & fundamental must for a Mario level is that even if it's kaizo-style difficult, it's still fair at the level of play/player for which it's designed. A "troll level" in this series is either *(1)* one of the 0.001% exceptions so side-splittingly funny it's worth it, or *(2)* shouldn't have been made. And *(2)* is the safe assumption if you're not a global-top-10 designer and/or working at Nintendo

@@MegaZeta I don't get why with other forms of levels if people dislike them they just don't play them, or say they don't like that style, but with -troll- slapstick levels (because let's be honest, the purpose of those levels is participative slapstick comedy rather than to just enrage people) when people don't like them they actively proclaim those levels should not exist or that they're inherently bad design. Citing kaizo-style here is even more ridiculous, since the reason most people don't like troll levels is they break the 100-Mario/endless runs (which kaizo also does for 99.9% of players), kaizo levels are far more likely to be boring and repetitive (kaizo trick consistency levels) and kaizo romhacks also tend to feature a lot of trolls.

You can even cover the arrow with ground blocks to make certain areas glow, which is much better than using fire or pickup-albe items. I don't understand how one person can rank all the gizmos individually when their whole purpose is for them to be used together to create complex contraptions. Personally, I don't like this video because you rank them specifically for only platforming and ignore their true purpose as contraption makers. Snake blocks are probably one of the best gizmos for complex contraptions and banzai bills are useless. You also never consider how helpful these items are in 3D World, where so many things are exclusive and not available. This limits and changes things dramatically.

29:03 "I have no recollection of how we made boss fights before these were added in Mario Maker 1 as an update." I remember seeing an official Nintendo trailer in which they explained that you can make a level where you have to fight Bowser Jr. because you need his clown car to proceed. And a level where you have to fight Bowser because he is blocking your way. I don't remember where I saw this video but I think its purpose was to showcase the then-recently added Boss music sound effect.

4:12 woah. I mean I get why you put it here but this thing is incredibly useful for 3D World contraptions. 3D World is super restrictive with what items can be placed over each other, but this semi solid can be pretty much anywhere making many 3D World contraptions no longer impossible or much more compact

I barely see anyone using the Snake Blocks in their levels.

watching this as a troll map creator/player is so interesting since so many items ranked lower are very useful for us or at least not as useless as the teirlist has them. very cool and interesting

Some of the lower tier gizmos are pretty great in troll levels. You can hide a powerup behind a banzai bill, same with the snake blocks to break through bullet bill launchers. Also the see saw is waaaaay too low, the amount of mechanisms they enable is crazy

The snake block isn't useless as it can be used in some timer set-ups the player needs to activate.

The on off trampoline canne used like a semi solid block in 3d world that actually goes through ground!

One way to make snake blocks less despicable is having tracks indicate the snake blocks path. Also, a great example of a snake block level is PePanga's Snake Charmer. It is kaizo, but it displays elements that are pretty great with snake block.
