Thank you. I started in the analog days when tape was actually sliced with a razor blade. After a 25 year absence I'm starting again and I appreciate that you shared your experience and insight so I can concentrate my efforts as I relaunch.

Another great video Timmy! In the part about creating audio for video games you mentioned "watermarking" I am familiar with this in the printing realm, but it is a new idea for me in audio. Very interesting. If you need an idea for another video I would like to request a video on how to create short clips for video games and water marking :) Thanks again!

Absolutely brilliant video! Love the honesty that you convey - I believe I am currently one of the newbie voice actors that professionals hate - i.e. not much talent for a low price - but I am looking to grow and develop to bring myself up to a proper level Can you do individual videos on the websites you like with more detail about most effective ways you have found to use them? - thank you again - love the videos!

Another good one! Seriously great to hear from this aspect. I've actually started on Fiverr and had good success, but it's very nice to hear about how many options there are and which to avoid or approach with caution.

This is third third video of yours that I'm viewing. I appreciate your time and effort that you put into sharing what you know about the vo industry. I had one suggestion and I hope you don't mind. My suggestion is that you look into the camera lens and address your viewers vs. looking at yourself while you're recording. It just adds a different feeling to and for the viewer. I could go on but I'll leave it at that, again thank you for your time and energy.
@FunnyGuyTimmy

Lhostel look at my recent videos. I look into the camera. The reason I was looking at the screen often is due to the recorder shutting down randomly around that period. I had to keep checking on it because I would get all the way through a video and only afterwords realizing that it didn’t record.

Samuel Stout if you are fresh to VO I strongly suggest local acting classes or improv. That would benefit you more. But a great place to start is Bill DeWees as a coach.

A gig from my past in relation to value, Radio Adverts - This was a direct gig, however they wanted 5 commercials voice at 200 words each. As I have a complete studio, they sent me a contract to voice the adverts, add in the background material they required, master and deliver it.. $37.50US - I even contacted them and asked of there had been a typo.. they said no and they believed it was a "fair" price... so I informed them politely that it was a "fair" price, and suggested they take some time out to ride a Ferris wheel at that "fair" and think about what they are asking. I have always wanted to spend 4 years getting my degree's, spend thousands of dollars building a studio and buy equipment for 40 bucks minus change!

Should I make account on all of these to see which works for beginners with no paid experience?
@FunnyGuyTimmy

Normal Tv Nerd for those with no paid experience I would say fiverr but that is also why a lot of people don’t like the site. Honest opinion; get at least 4 hours of coaching first. Best person to got to about this is Bill DeWees. Go talk to him and do a few one on one skype sessions and then see where you fit in the market.

So explain how you have Bodalgo under dislikes if you have no experience. That's kinda stupid. Also, professionally, voices isn't respected and agents not managers will touch you if they know you're on that site.
@FunnyGuyTimmy
@FunnyGuyTimmy 6 жыл бұрын
As far as the agents and managers not RESPECTING you if they knew you were on these sites, that would also go for Bodalgo if that was true. I know a few VO talents who started out on these platforms and have no shame in having done so. People like James Arnold Taylor. These sites are not hated by the industry because they exist but because they had a real rough start. A lot of studios were taking advantage of new talent who didn't know better. Now there are tons of professional voice actors like myself who are trying to help fix that. Mostly by sharing free information videos online on the topic. I also had a conversation with Richard Horvitz not too long ago and he gave me no grief for being on ANY of these platforms. I started out over 12 years ago on almost all of these questionable platforms and have seen them grow a lot over time. This isn't really a huge issue in the industry about the topic any more. Now lets talk about Bodalgo. I thought I had explained it in this one and another video but I will explain it here. The reason I have no experience with it is due to not getting any work through it, over all the years I have been apart of the site. I do character work almost exclusively and Bodalgo has nothing on it's site for character voice over talent. I even talked to the creators themselves and they agreed it's not a cartoon, animation or video game voice over platform. As apposed to Voices.com and voice123.com where I have EXPERIENCES with the site. If you can't get a car to run how can you review how it drives off road. It's format and organization on the available gigs page is also something to be desired. On Voices.com you can sort through gigs based on category before even opening the page up. That way you don't have to read the entire thing before knowing it's not worth your time. They do have features I like but not where I think they would be the most helpful. When you are trying to do a whole bunch of auditions in a day every little slowdown becomes a huge deal. Also dislike is not hate, it's just not a like.
