Fun fact about the Percy resurrection: Taliesin said things could have gone very wrong when Vox Machina tried to bring Percy back. It wasn't just fighting off Orthax or doing a complicated ritual, it was convincing Percy to want to live again. Because Percy (and Taliesin) were convinced his story was always meant to be a tragedy, and if it ended with Anna Ripley then maybe that was something like justice. Any pleas to the Gods wouldn't have worked. Neither would telling Percy he still needed vengeance, or reminding him of his dead family. But Vex admitting she was in love with him? In Taliesin's own words: "Oh yeah, that'll do it."

It also shows they did the right move in making it more dramatic and not the "lets go to the next temple and use a diamond" kind of ressurection that it was in the campaign. But you win some, and you lose some. I know there are people out there who were dissappointed that "A bard's lament" was missing from the show. I'm not sure how I feel about its absence. I felt it was not necessary in the show. Pike was around more to comfort and guide Scanlan. And one of the main reasons why that moment was so strong in the campaign was because you were not quite sure how much of it was acted and how much of it was genuine shock. That is hard to translate to a tv show. I still miss it, but not that much that I would it trade it for something else they did instead.

Keyleth’s come a long way since Season 1. She found love that keeps her tethered. She found her own path to becoming a leader. She’s survived undeath, passed through fire, braved the fey realm, went to hell and back, and conquered her nemesis. And she did so by utilizing all she’s learned across three seasons to outlast and outwit her, baiting her into incinerating her own corpse, thus leaving the diseased ashes open to being “reclaimed” by the earth and free to be transferred back into her new body. In other words, she _deceived the Deceiver,_ beating Raishan at her own game and reducing her to being the DECEASED Deceiver.

In the stream, Keyleth wasn't the one who killed Raishan, it was a guest character. Well that's not entirely true, she did essentially kill who Raishan was with a clutch spell, Feeblemind. If successful upon a failed Intelligence save, it sets Intelligence and Charisma scores to 1, renders them completely able to cast spells or even speak. There is a chance to shake it off once every month, but with the user's intelligence at a severely low level, they would have to be INCREDIBLY lucky. However, for boss monsters, they do have an ability to just say "Yup, I succeeded" a few times in a fight. But, luckily, they forced her to use them all before Kiki made the play.

Percy died in episode 68 in the campaign & was brought back via a resurrection ritual in the next episode, 69 (nice). So Critters had to wait a week to see if Percy would be brought back & so it was fitting that TLOVM watchers also had to wait a week for it to happen. Since the campaign uses D&D 5e rules where revivify, resurrection, and raise dead spells exist, in Exandria the Matron is a little more lax on those type of spells. By this point in the campaign, Pike had died once (pre-stream; it's why her hair turned white), Grog twice, Vex twice, Percy twice, and Scanlan twice. At that point in the campaign, only Vax & Keyleth hadn't died. But keeping that faithful to the animated series would have made each death not that impactful. So I understand why they made resurrection magic in the animated series world much, much rarer & the cost for doing so much more severe. As to the EXU: Calamity 4-episode series (20hr 17min in total), most of the ppl that have reacted to it on KZbin have uploaded it in multi-parts. I think most have watched 1 hour and then made that part 1; watched another hour and made that part 2; etc etc. I don't know if that matches Critical Role's content policy when it comes to reactions of their material, but you can find those specifics on their website.

In D&D, there are different spells that can bring someone back from the dead. The weakest spell that can bring someone back is Revivify, which can only bring someone back who has been dead for less than a minute. This is what was used on Vex in the Sunken Tomb. Someone who is Revivified comes back to life with only a single hit point, but they are otherwise unaffected by their ordeal. More powerful spells can raise someone who has been dead longer. But those spells take longer to cast (meaning they can't be performed during combat like Revivify can), and they take a toll upon the person who is brought back. Raise Dead can bring someone back to life that has been dead for 10 days or less, but the person that was brought back takes a -5 penalty to any attack roll, skill check, or saving throw that they make afterwards. That penalty is reduced by one each time the revived person takes a long rest (which is 8 hours of sleep). Unless the show changes things to make stuff more dramatic (which they've done before), Percy should be right as rain in less than a week.

I'm pretty sure that dark orb with the cultists at the end, is from season 1. In the ziggurot where (I can't remember the characters or VA's names, so I'll name other characters they've voiced) Azula from Avatar TLA and McCree from Overwatch (the witch and the vampire) died.

You are thinking of Delilah(Grey Griffin) and Sylas Briarwood(Matthew Mercer)

I don't know anything about the actual campaign they played, but I do know D&D and have seen how they skirted copyrighted material by calling the monsters/gods/stuff by different names, so I'm pretty confident that the bad guy at the end is a callback to the being that made the bad guy from the first season a vampire and they were trying to release, which I assume is this show's version of Vecna the Lich demigod.
@MordringСағат бұрын
You assume correctly. They call him the Whispered One (one of his many titles) much like all the other deities (Moonweaver is Sehanine, Stormlord is Kord, etc.). That way they avoid copyrighted names, but retain the deity's domain and agenda. And, as anyone well-versed with D&D, you know what badass potential Vecna's presence in a campaign can bring.

I mean, for someone who doesn’t have magic Percy got fire power that is up there with vex’s super magic bow with bad news, thing is a serious cannon

Was shocked & pleased at the new season. Didn’t know it was even coming!! Besides how weird it is Vex and Keelith are so hot, this is one of my favorite shows the past few years. What a treat. Only downside is how quickly S3 went and the inevitable wait for S4.

For Calamity. I would say release a review and commentary for each episode. Three to four hours per episode is very difficult to edit down. 😅

So, this went a little differently in the campaign, but man... Vax calling him 'brother' and saying I love you impacted me so much more than Vex. And I'm a massive Percy-Vex shipper.

Especially because it’s Vax. He was so protective of Vex and worried about Percy being dangerous. Knowing he loves Percy made my heart burst

Genuinely love your reactions to Vox Vachina, would LOVE to see you watch Calamity. Its all on youtube although I'm sure you would want to edit it down as each they are quite long.

So I was right, Pike _does_ still have Xerxes symbol on her. Or rather, the Whispered One's symbol Xerxes gave her. The question is now; why does Pike still carry that, when she willingly threw aside her Everlight symbol, especially when it was a symbol given to you by a _Devil_ and it's purpose (getting them out of Dis) has already been fulfilled? It was presented as a 'heroic' moment, but I think a foreshadowing of something far darker for Pike down the road. She may think she's just using her divine magic by 'having faith in herself', but that's not how divine magic works for clerics... and she's still carrying around an (un)holy symbol even after throwing away her Everlight symbol. I personally think the Whispered One has been slowly working on eroding Pike's faith and subtly sculpting her for something ever since she had that brief interaction with him all the way back in Season 1, where she caught a brief glimpse of him in the shadowy plane she'd shifted to while she was trying to commune with the Everlight. And I don't think that was just some vision or premonition either, I think that was actually the Whispered One himself, and that he may have managed to very slightly infest her soul or form some kind of connection with her that, until now, has been kept at bay due to her faith in the Everlight. But isn't it odd how Pike always seems to struggle with using her magic when trying to channel the Everlight, even after she had supposedly made her peace with her? Isn't it odd how all of a sudden Pike seems to have better control only after she cast aside her Everlight symbol at the coaxing of a _Devil_ of all beings? And a Devil that we _know_ is working for the Whispered One. More and more I'm pretty firmly convinced that Pike is going to be instrumental for the Whispered One's return in Season 4, and they've shown willingness to break from the story of the campaign in major ways at this point so this is absolutely going to be a thing, I'm like 95% sure of it. My main question is... has Pike ever truly spoken to the _real_ Everlight at all in this series? What if even the vision we saw of her in Season 1 was the Whispered One masquerading as the Everlight all along? Sure the Everlight was all "Any path you walk can be a righteous one" sounds good on the surface... but that's some pretty morally grey reasoning for a supposedly Lawful/Neutral Good deity, because it's simply too vague and allows for too much wiggle room morally speaking, not something good aligned gods tend to be big on, even the Chaotic Good ones. This last bit is very much purely speculative on my part and I am more 50-50 on whether it's true or not, but would make for a pretty cool twist for Pike when she finds out she hasn't truly been in contact with the Everlight for quite a long while... so who has been giving her power until now?! Dun dun dunnnn

Interesting point you bring here. And the Whispered One has been present in Pike's arc since season 1. I think it's quite badass as in the campaign Pike had almost no story arc of her own. She was mostly the supporting character. Main reason for that was Ashley's other job which resulted in her either being absent or only joining via (poor quality) skype call essentially bringing Pike's presence only to skill checks and attack rolls or outright being NPCed by Matt (if she was even present in the first place). Her being directly involved with the main villain of the final arc will make things very tumultuous and I'm here for it!

A little bit of advice for Season 4. A week or so before Season 4 debuts, go back and re-watch the entire series so that you'll have them more fresh in your mind while watching the final season (I'm pretty sure that Season 4 is the final season, unless they're going to split the final story arc into two seasons like they did with Season 2 and 3).

I've been wondering if the lack of Scanlan songs this season might have something to do with Sam going through throat cancer at this point.

I am totally right there with you on liking Percy the most in the show. Funny thing is, I liked Grog, Scanlan, Vax, and Vex more than him in the campaign, but you put Taliesin Jaffe behind a microphone and that man fucking DELIVERS. They just also did a great job animating Percy in the series, and he's the most relatable since he's not using magic or any powers, he's just an ordinary dude with a big brain and a gun. Love 'em.

Calamity would be an AMAZING reaction from you. Just amazing. I’d suggest setting aside blocks of time per episode- try to watch the episode itself in one period of time, even though they are very long. Like reax to long movies. But you can split up the videos themselves - each episode could have two reax videos, for example. But I think you’d be great at that series.

20:01 Btw, Scanlan's awakening scene and ending (of this season so to speak) happens quite differently in the campaign (this one's WAY more wholesome). So they seem to have skipped the very improtant part of Scanlan's arc called "the Bard's Lament" here, which was very emotional, grief-ridden and a heartbreaking moment towards Vox Machina. I don't want to spoil in in case they somehow still do that in the future (which I very much doubt) but it's an event definitely worth looking up online since it fundementally changed the campaign at that moment, cause it's just THAT important. I think they said that it changed due to Pike being present with Vox Machina more, unlike in the campaign. 7:46 I'm pretty sure during this event in the campaign Keyleth says to Rayshan after calling her "child" again: "Call me child ONE MORE TIME!" or sth similar to that.
