Enid's mom is just misguided and doesn't know how to help her daughter. Her dad, on the other hand, is the best. I get the feeling he loves both his wife and his kids, and when they clashed at the end there, he stepped in to offer the support Enid's mom couldn't. I feel like he's a peacemaker at heart, just being there for anyone in his family who needs it.

Both Wednesday and Weems are dealing with living in Morticia's shadow. Though Wednesday seems to be doing better at dealing with it and attempting to blazing a path of her own. Weems is stuck with the constant reminders all around her of having played second fiddle/cello to Morticia during her formative high school years. And now Wednesday has come along upsetting the balance at her school, probably like her mother did, and mostly getting away with doing anything she wants. It can't be fun to once again being lead around by an Addams.

Anytime Gwendolyn and Jenna have a scene together it’s so good. Their height difference along with the use of camera angles really helps with the power dynamics at play but just… both actresses really draw you in. The moment where Weems leans over the desk and is still towering over Wednesday is…. So good. Like the tension skyrockets even though I was 91.3% sure Weems wouldn’t do anything. Yeah, don’t like when Enid is sad. She’s lovely and a complete ray of sunshine. You know it’s just gonna a fun swell time when a child looks at their mom with absolute fear in their eyes. Poor Bianca, man. I love the rest of the Addams Family so much. They’re obviously different from the movie versions but I enjoy when they’re on screen. The actors seem like they’re having fun too. So that helps.

It's just people wishing they could be as overtly suave and attractive as John Astin or Raul Julia and win their very own Morticia. On the other hand it says something much more powerful that it was someone who looked like Luis Guzman that was able to capture the attention of a certain Morticia Frump, and that people could not believe they could have in his place.

This was an awesome reaction. As to the worst parent, that'd be Bianca's mom in my opinion. By a long shot. Enid's mom is controlling and not particularly bright, but she "thinks" she's doing the right thing for her child. It's not of course and there is a selfish "image" thing there, but she's still doing something she thinks will help and is unaware of the damage she's doing. The Sheriff cares about Tyler, but he's dealing with his own psychological issues over the loss of his wife and he's just not dealing with it appropriately. But Bianca's mom is totally about herself and her own needs and she's completely indifferent to her daughter's best interests. Bianca's mom is a manipulative sociopath. I don't think that's applicable to the other two flawed parents. Keep up the great work. I'm loving your channel and your reactions. So much fun to watch.

@jeffgaboury3157
@jeffgaboury3157 2 жыл бұрын
@O. B. I don't disagree with you and I did allude to that in indicating that it's more about the "selfish image thing" than it is about Enid's needs. I'm not saying she's being a bad parent. I think she totally is being a very damaging parent. But I think in her own mind, she "thinks" she's doing something right for her daughter. By contrast, there are no illusions in Bianca's mom's mind. She's totally corrupt and indifferent to Bianca's well-being. She doesn't exhibit any parental care, whatsoever. They're both being absolutely terrible parents. But I think it's a matter of degrees. Enid's mom is misguided. When Enid puts her fut down, her mom backs down. Not very gracefully, but she does drop it. By contrast, Bianca's mom is without any moral boundaries at all. There is no doubt whatsoever that she wants what she wants for herself and damn any consequences for her daughter. She will even resort to extortion to get her way. That puts her in a different category all together, at least in my opinion.

A lot to unpack in this episode, and much discussed better than what I can do: * Eugene lives, but in a coma and Wednesday blames herself. His poor moms are clearly distressed and love him plenty, yet they obviously appreciate his only friend for giving him something else besides just the bees. * We meet Bianca’s mother and in turn, see a lot of what made her what she is. Considering her mother is a cold-hearted cult leader it’s impressive how put-together she is, and she clearly has morals despite what she was raised in. * Enid’s parents love her, but aren’t handling expectations vs. reality well. And wanting to send her to conversion therapy… oof. Also note that Enid’s hair represents the transgender pride flag. And thankfully she stands up for herself; Wednesday has really influenced her in both overt and subtle ways. * We see how much Gomez and Morticia love each other; that the former took the fall for her killing Garrett Gates, it’s no wonder she loved him MORE. And they don’t cope well apart, but thankfully their children are on the ball there (in their individual ways). * The Gates’ are indeed messed-up, really carrying their ancestor Joseph Crackstone’s legacy forward. And the similarities between Ansel Gates getting his son to try and murder everyone at Nevermore, to a LOT of modern hate crimes, shootings… brr. And finally, all the actors are excellent in their own right, but as others say the chemistry between Ortega and Christie makes for the best scenes in the show.

00:25 - 00:26 Pun intended?;-D #Fester 01:08 - 01:48 That's what I said when Xavier told to Wednesday the visions are unreliable because they're triggered by emotions.About the difference between Wednesday's and Morticia's visions...we'll get there...;-3 03:30 - 03:31 I used to think this when she 1st showed up in ep 1 because of the mud on her boots,but..again..we'll talk about her later...😉 03:45 - 03:50 Yes,this was *THE* reason I suspect her to be _some sort_ of Villain from the start...because do you _really_ expect '90s Wednesday to show up in a spin-off on a _new_ Wednesday and *not* fight with her at some point?!?C'mon. 04:05 - 04:08 True,but the show is doing everything in its power to make appear _Xavier_ as"the most obvious choice"... 09:50 - 10:26 Mh.🤔This is interesting. I am _sure_ by now '90s Wednesday was lying to the Mayor and I'm sure _I know_ why he really recognized her(again...WE'LL GET THERE!),so,now that you point this out,this"error"could make total sense...she's lying to the mayor...but..why not mentioning what she _truly_ orders when she goes there?Why lying about a detail like _that?_ It's weird!😅 See?!?!This is what I hate about this show!!The inconsistency in portraying the Addams!!First Morticia says 12:14 - 12:22 and then she spends the whole episode being *ashamed* of murder?!?!Since *WHEN* is murder a problem for the Addams Family???They should be *proud* of it!! If anything,I would expect them to _share the __-merit-__ blame_ hoping they would also end up sharing the same cell!! 😘 14:57 - 15:02 Again...not an Addams attitude!!Since when are the Addams so passive-aggressive?!?They should always be extremely naive and friendly with everyone..THAT's what made '90s Wednesday to stand out so much!! 16:58 - 16:59 Thank you,Wednesday!!!X-P 17:23 - 17:36 *This Pugsley-is-ADORABLE!* 🥺 I wanna see more of him!!!!🤎Also..those look like dry apple slice to me. You cut that piece out,but...BIANCA IS A MADE UP NAME???😱And of *ALL* the names she could choose she went for WHITE???!!!😵 Man,you _really_ got fond of Eugene,haven't you?❤You were having tearey eyes for the whole scene!;'-) 23:46 - 24:01 HERE WE GO! *_The moment_* I heared this I thought:"THAT'S WHO '90S WEDNESDAY IS!!!😲THE SISTER!!!👉" 35:49 - 35:54 I believe she is!!>^< 24:24 This is _another_ thing that doesn't make sense to me!!Back in ep 1 Enid was _desperate_ about the perspective of never wolfing out and now that her mother presents with a solution she's suddenly AGAINST IT???🤨Look,I get that the"conversion"is a metaphor for LGBT kids conversion,but to make the parallel work you either had to have Enid make a completely different speech to Wednesday..about her not being _ready_ to wolf out or not even being sure she _wanted_ to OR you should have added at least another scene between that and these ones to justify her change of heart! 26:01 Gosh,she's so beautiful!!🖤______🖤 26:30 - 26:33 She did?!?😱31:40 - 31:46 Interesting...call me intrigued.Now I wanna see the full backstory of those 2.🤔 30:11 - 30:19 Same. And I'm a man! 31:12 - 31:24 I immediately guessed Raven too🤭and my personal guess about the Raven/Dove explanation is,because as Morticia said Doves tend to have positive visions they might underestimate some dangers(because they don't get to be warned about the worst side of people)while Ravens tend to not know about the possible extenuating circumstances of bad people,like Crackstone or Rowan.🤔 32:58 - 33:01 He reminds me of Oz from"Buffy"...werewolf,red-head,almost never speaks but when he does it's always meaningful.😉🧡 33:24 - 33:26 Ouch!!😖💔33:28 - 33:29 Ooohh,FINALLY an appropriate Addams reaction!! 33:30 - 33:33 Aaand it was good until it lasted.🙄😓 34:27 - 34:32 😨🖤🤍(Those 2 have an *_insane_* amount of chemestry,I love them!!!🤩😎😎) 34:47 - 34:49 Well...she _does_ have a point...>///< 41:51 - 41:53 "(Sings)Mother knows best.🎵"😉👿A lot of parents are awful in this show,but if I _must_ pick the worst among the ones we've seen(meaning I won't judge Xavier's parents)I'd go with Bianca's mother because the sheriff still supports Tyler at least by providing him a home,food and some occasional support,I hope;Enid's mom is awful but at least she's KINDA balanced by the father's presence?A little bit?Bianca seems to _only_ have her mother and she's toxic as hell!!Even just the look she gave her when she arrived...that was *pure terror* 😨 nothing like Enid who was simply very annoyed and frustrated.🙄💢

The ability to “control” your emotions isn’t exactly what people think it is. It usually stems from some sort of control issue the person has. Me for example, I really relate to Wednesday. Recently I had to cut off a friend of 17 years for my own mental health. All I could feel was anger at first, which frustrated me because I knew, logically, I wasn’t “angry” I was really just sad. Being unable to express that without it feeling forced was all the more frustrating because I knew if I allowed myself to cry about it and be openly sad about it, I would “get over” it a lot quicker. I think the whole “controlling” your emotions also stems from restricting what you allow yourself to do because you don’t want to seem weak or pathetic. I cannot help how many times I’ve actually cried and would look in the mirror and tell myself to stop. I didn’t realize how crazy that was until I watched someone else do it to themselves. Growing up with untreated anxiety and depression can cause a person to become more apathetic to things, and it’s something I always wonder about when people tell me I’m cold or uncaring because I know deep down that I DO care, I just can’t/don’t know how to allow myself to express it properly. When Wednesday told Bianca in Ep. 4 that she wished she cared a little more, I felt that.

It's ironic isn't it? Gomez took the fall for Morticia stabbing Garrett in self-defense. However, Garrett was already dying from the nightshade poison that had spilled on him when the vial broke in his jacket during his fight with Gomez. Neither Gomez nor Morticia were aware of this and have spent years covering up for a killing neither of them is responsible for.

I don't understand why everyone finds it suspicious that Thornhill was there. 🤔 Wednesday looked like she had a seizure there, then exclaimed that Eugene was in danger and ran off into the woods. Any teacher who would be like "Meh, don't care." instead of running after her, would be way more suspicious to me.

Wednesday may be named for Wednesday’s child, who is ‘full of woe,’ but she was actually born on Friday (the 13th) which means she is ‘loving and giving.’ I really hope we see that develop more in the future.

I think it's really in this episode that we start to truly see that Wednesday has emotions, she just doesn't communicate them via expressions in the same way as most people, but via her actions. As someone autistic this is a very relatable characterisation, my feelings are for me, I don't emote them freely. If I choose to let someone know them, then I can't just do it by expression once I've made the decision, because that would be inauthentic and I *cannot* be inauthentic, so all I have are deeds. I'm not someone who says that this portrayal of Wednesday IS autistic or representation, however there's certainly a lot of similarities, and perhaps more importantly it has some of the most relatable and recognisable on-screen reactions I've seen that people end up displaying when they get close to someone autistic, especially (no spoilers) in later episodes. The previous episode when Xavier rants at her in his shed about whether she cares about anyone else, and her reaction, was spine-tingling. I've had that conversation too many times, I've had her reaction, the frozen head and seemingly dispassionate eyes as my brain isn't having an emotional reaction because I've been asked a question and I'm trying to answer it, when what they wanted was just to SEE I cared. From inside, the perspective is: I cared enough to put my feelings aside to try to answer your question and to take the time to make sure I was absolutely truthful before I answered. I have some issues with a number of things in this show, but the acting is ALL outstanding, and the character writing surrounding everyone's relationship to Wednesday is something more script writers need to learn from. I'm not hugely fond of how Morticia, the supposed queen of the fencing team, acts like she has no idea how to hold a sword, and doesn't have the immediate instinct to either keep the pointy end away from something she didn't want to stab, or to thrust properly if she did. I'd have felt a lot happier if she'd stabbed on reflex and then shown remorse.

We also hear that Poe descended into madness, and was also famously a writer (just like goody: book of shadows, and Wednesday: her budding novel). I bet he's a raven seer. SPOILERS BELOW . . . . . . . . I think he will be the Raven that Wednesday reaches out to now that goody is out of the picture. Especially if Wednesday recovers the book of shadows

Bianca's character really changes in this episode. She's originally written for you to not like her. But in this episode you realize she's really just in a bad situation and her personality is probably just a result of having to have lived a certain way. I think she probably had the best character arc/redemption in the season.

i think the unreliability of her visions is an interesting issue. because they have been spot on. that said when she talks to xavier he implies the unreliability comes from an lack of context such that leading the viewer to jump to unfounded conclusions. that could be the reason they are considered unreliable because your emotional state might lead you to fill in the gaps which may be biased by your emotions?

I was miffed @ the fact that Enid's mom was trying to send her to conversion therapy summer camp. Any kind of conversion therapy is BAD. I have seen other reactors comment "Why doesn't the dad say anything/stand up for his daughter?" If the writers r trying to remain true to wolf hierarchy, Enid's mother is the Alpha in the relationship. That is why she's constantly trying to control everything, & the father just silently watches. Once the Alpha, Enid's mom, walks off in frustration, that was when we see him finally engage w/Enid. As far as the bigger mystery goes, this was the episode when things clicked into place for me as far as who's who, except the monster. I knew who it was since Episode 1 & did not waiver. Anyway, greatly enjoyed this reaction. Eagerly awaiting the next.😊 O, & a Happy New Year to u.🥳

Good writing that keeps the audience guessing is rare these days. Most TV writing is lowest common denominator. Wednesday really stands out from that. The whole Enid and her mom and the conversion therapy really pissed me off. A nice bit of social commentary there. Like Star Trek back in the 60s. :)

Actually I think this show is all but unpredictable 😁 Every turn is predictable in a very comfortable way, and I believe this is one of the things that make it pleasant to any possible target (it's not bad writing, it's that they want it that way). I only find it a bit annoying that practically in every one of Wednesday's discoveries there's a "vision" putting her on the right trail.
@Educated2Extinction
@Educated2Extinction 2 жыл бұрын
FESTERing, you say? Maybe Wednesday's emotions just are highly repressed, which could impact her visions at a deeper level. The dance was kooky, maybe a little spooky. Why is Enid's dad so quiet? Did you listen to mom? The attempted lycanthropy conversion therapy parallel was a stretch. Enid wants to wolf out, desperately, and she knows she's a werewolf. The problem is her mother pressuring her relentlessly. The show's a much better mystery than I expected. Writing these days is generally unimpressive. Bianca's mom was the worst. Enid's mom wants the same thing Enid does, but she's showing it in the worst possible way. Bianca's mom is only concerned for herself.
