Cruising St Maarten in the Weeks before Coronavirus Shutdown S4Ep14

We move into the Simpson Bay lagoon to anchor and begin cruising St Maarten on our Tartan 37 sailboat Holiday just a couple of weeks before the Coronavirus pandemic would start affecting our daily lives. The Heineken Regatta was going on so we spent an awesome afternoon and evening having fun at the Regatta Village. We took a shopping trip to the capital city of Pillipsburg and also check out all the cool restaurants around the lagoon. We make the big decision of replacing our 40 year old diesel engine with a new Yanmar while here in St Maarten. Just before the airport is shutdown, we get to see the famous Maho Beach where airplanes take off right over your head at the beach. As the Coronavirus pandemic starts to affect our lives, we begin to social distance and cook all our meals aboard Holiday.

We had never heard of Wonderbag so had to look it up - it's an amazing thing! We couldn't help but donate to their cause, thank you for sharing this! We've recently gotten into sailing ourselves and have plans to have our home base in St Croix in a few years. This will be a great addition to our boat as well!

@@Bradley_Clark We'll be living on the boat in Grenada for hurricane season. That has always been our plan, and the recent travel restrictions would make it hard to do anything else.

About the same time as you we were shopping for a new engine too. Yanmar told us 4 to 6 months delivery...in Canada.. 2 weeks in carribean is such a great lead time. We ended up,going with a beta marine, much less wait and worked out well. I watched your engine replacement video, just wanted to see how it all happened. Your are right to act proactively and not put more money into the old one

Wow! Yeah, the Yanmar place in St Maarten was really good. That's how we chose it over Beta. If we would have been somewhere that had a good Beta dealer, we would have went with Beta.
