The fact that Soda had to explain that frogs aren’t vegetarian is appalling.

Maybe by vegetarian the OP meant that they don’t eat mammal meat, and instead eat bugs? Could be wrong. Still, that’s not what vegetarian means.
@Nika442 жыл бұрын
@@lunanote-cassettemeower I thought about that to ( and I am a vegetarian). You can call typical herbivorous species a vegetarians, like horses, cows etc. But frogs don't even eat plants!!Why people get an animal, they doesn't have any knowledge about?!! Plus having 'herbivorous' species of fish or reptile doesn't guarantee that they won't eat meat from time to time since they are more like the omnivorous. Plus amphibians and fish are not really smart so they will eat everything. For example, there are fish that won't eat plants (if someone is planning planted tank), but even fish that will feed mostly on plants will eat smaller fish (silver dollars are great example, they will eat any plant that is in the tank, then they will eat any small fish). But I still don't understand why, in the 21 Century, people can't look into the animal care guides on the freaking Internet!! When I was preparing myself for the quaker parrot arrival, even though I have multiple parrots before, I still have done tons of research about this species, their diet, behaviour etc. And if you are taking care of animals like amphibians, reptiles, each species of thous groups needs different habitat to live in, so why people are buying animals they doesn't have any, or small knowledge about :< And who is victim? Animal itself.

it really depends on what type of vegetarian animal we are talking about here, herbivorous mammals and reptiles eating a bit of meat is fairly common but generally it’s rarer in other animal groups, especially with more specialised animals Such as majority of most herbivorous non-generalist insects physically cannot eat meat, such as aphids, certain parrotfish (the smaller ones that don’t eat coral or sponges, because yes they are animals) etc etc

@SqueakTheKittehxx2 жыл бұрын

I’m going to blow some people’s minds with this: Even herbivores will sometimes eat meat (i.e carcasses, prey animals, easy-to-get meat sources) when they are extremely low on vitamins like calcium in their diet. Look up the video “Deer eats bird” , it’s quite a shock when you first see it.

Bears are included in the order Carnivora but they’re typically omnivores. Hi soda! I have a dilemma :( my dog won’t stop chasing his tail and it’s becoming a huge problem My puppy is eight months old and last month he became fascinated with his tail. He chased it frequently and I know dogs tend to chase their tails but wit my dog it got worse. Over time, he started to chase it more and more. When he catches it, he starts chewing it and he’s been ripping the fur out of it, it looks really uneven. We took him to the vet and mentioned it and she said he should grow out of it, but to still try and get him to stop, and if it gets any worse then to bring him back to her. Then he started doing it even more and yesterday all he did was chase and chew his tail, only stopping for food. It’s gotten to the point where the end of his tail is almost completely bald and he’s even made it bleed, and pretty badly too. I’ve suggested a cone to my parents multiple times and they just won’t listen, they just say it’ll stop with training. We’re trying to train him out of it. It’s not working. My dad thinks he’s the master dog trainer (he’s really not) and still hasn’t taken him back to the vet and my mum always takes his side. Every time I argue, my mum tells me to ‘stop trying to be a dog expert, it’s annoying’. I’m really worried about my puppy. If anyone could give me some advice I would be very grateful. Love your videos, you’re one of my idols.
@sodapets2 жыл бұрын
I’m not an expert by any means when it comes to dog behaviour, but I do know tail chasing can become a bad habit even in adulthood, and it is definitely more concerning that the dog is hurting them self from doing it so muchthere a few reasons they may do it, like they could be board and potentially need more exercise, or they could be anxious. So you could definitely start with giving your dog more exercise as that is commonly the problem, but there is a chance that it could be a medical problem. If possible, it might be best to get a second vet opinion if he keeps doing this, or even speak with a dog trainer. I understand it can be hard with parents that don’t seem to understand, but you sound like you’re doing a good job by noticing this behaviour, and I hope it can be fixed!

How many times do they need to know? To house an axolotl you would most likely need(or would prefer to use) 1-a good filter(i would recommend a sponge filter) 2-a good tank that is cleaned once a week 3-things to keep the axolotl occupied/happy(such as tank decor, a big tank to explore, hiding spots ect) 4-last but not least as far as i know, its good to house them alone so they dont get snacked on by the other axolotls, and yes ik axolotls can sometimes not snack on each other Thank you soda for calling all of them out

I've heard that housing them alone is bad if they are past the cannibalistic stage. If you have to house them separately, at least using a tank divider in a large enough tank is best. I love this channel I had a beautiful bearded dragon named Charlie. I was kicked out of my house by my parents and can't take care of him. My little brother is going to take care of him now. And I know he will be okay but i miss Charlie everyday. This channel just reminds me of him so I like it

Thank you. r/axolotls is crazy. I try to help everyone there and some people are just bitches, won’t listen. I remember this frog one. I tried to tell them “You shouldn’t be keeping axolotls with goldfish in a pond” and OP is really rude about it.

My friend betta fish just died and they wondered why, I keep telling them that it’s because their in a 3 gallon, with a bad filter, no heater, no bubbles, toxic gravel and kept with like 4 mollies in a 3 gallon! I kept telling them that’s it’s not big enough but they don’t change it and they wonder why it’s dying!!!!

Yeah I had a beta once, but it was before the internet had animal care tips so easily accessible, so when it died (prolly got too cold after the power went out-thanks roomie!) I simply decided nope I dunno how to care for fish atm and I don't have the best place, so I've never bought a fish since. I know they take a LOT of care, and living with people who won't shut the power off mid-winter. My sister is really into fish thou, her goldfish like pets, it is rather cute and only the 2cd time I've met such fish.

Do wild axolotls have a hard time eating in the wild then, or are captive breed axolotls just especially dumb?
@RepubsWannaMarryKids Жыл бұрын
I think there is a reason there likely are no wild axolotls any longer tbh... I'd put them along with Pandas, when they go we can prolly keep em in capacity but Darwinism wins out.

question for anyone to answer! My birds are extreamly picky (Their original owners sold both for only 5$ (They couldn't take good care of them, and their children where hurting them so I was able to get them for my bd)) They only eat seeds and spinach. I tricked one of them in trying a strawberry and they didn't see it as food and spat out the taste. If I try to feed them anything they run away from it. They drink a lot of water becouse they aren't eating watery fruit and what not. (refill every week, they drink about a large spoonfull a day) They don't even want to try going near food I am eating.

And most kids buy axolotls because of Minecraft, sad but true. They beg their parents and then get one without knowing how to care for them.

I- Frogs are widely known to eat bugs And the first thing on Google you'll find if you look up a frog eating in images will be a frog doing its best to eat a full on mouse

Research. Research and more research. Frankie's Aquatics, Soda Pets, and others are also good sources of info. There's also some books on Axolotl care on Amazon to get and they were not terribly priced.

Hey soda, can you please review the KZbin channel “real life” or channels like them? They feed their bullfrog & turtles live hamsters- like 5-10 at a time. They also feed their frogs other frogs, even sometimes other bullfrogs/pixie frogs/tree frogs. Some of the hamsters in their videos have previous injuries like missing limbs from being kept in a small cage together. It is just an unbelievable amount of cruelty and their channel needs to be taken down.

“Frogs seemed to be vegetarian” Bruh, nearly all amphibians are carnivores in their adult form. Frogs (and axolotls) may be small and cute, but they are built to catch and eat smaller animals alive.
