The sleeping thing would be an issue with the tilt sensor, but I think yours appears to be mostly okay. (Kinda hard to tell when you have it laying back to face the camera every time it’s woken up lol) Furby is programmed to go back to sleep if it thinks it got knocked over on accident, which is assumed to be the case if you don’t immediately set it upright before it finishes yawning. Dust and weathering can lead to the two contacts in the sensor not being able to register if Furby is upright or upside-down properly, often thinking it’s perpetually laying on its side. Hence when you try to wake the furby up, it mistakenly thinks it’s on its side and just goes back to sleep. Whether you’ll be able to fix it depends on whether the sensor inside is glued together (which can be opened for cleaning the contacts) or fully sealed and thus impossible to get into. The only other issues Furbies often have is the motor thing you demonstrated that happens after not being used for decades, or a sync switch that can get loose/bent that causes the motor’s position to not get tracked properly. Yours doesn’t seem to have those issues either, so my only suggestion would be to maybe see if you can clean the tilt sensor if waking it up shows signs of getting iffy.
