A great collection of things happening there on the A600. Pretty much as pimped as you'd like to keep true to the original idea. (ie no Vampire). It's always slightly ironic to see a modern single board Pi relegated to a single task of converting some video, when it could emulate the whole amiga faster than the original, but I guess this is tribute to how much we love the authentic machine itself!

One thing I have pointed out on the RGB2HDMI design is that drawing the amount of power the Pi needs to run from the power traces on Denise is a Bad Idea. You may find if you add an extra 5V feed to the Pi (from the floppy header from example) things get more stable
@10MARC3 жыл бұрын
@@jaycee1980 how does that work if the Pi is already grabbing power from Denise? If I power the Pi from the USB won't that overload the old girl?
@jaycee19803 жыл бұрын
@@10MARC I mean feed 5V power into the USB port from the Amiga itself.. it's still the same 5V, so no, nothing bad happens. The only difference is there's thicker wires which are able to handle more current

Hey, doesn't the Furia have the maprom feature? So you wouldn't even need the Rom-switcher anymore..
@bufordmaddogtannen3 жыл бұрын
What about reinstalling the kickstart switcher? It looks like its overhanging PCB may just sit nicely on top of the furia and provide some added stability. Also an extra socket under the switcher could add some clearance if needed.
@heffe20013 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, with the original 3.2 upgraded KS, you had to disable the cache on the CPU to get it to boot at all (I believe it was cache, it's been about a year since I upgraded a 600, and didn't keep it long afterward), but I believe they fixed that issue in a later patch level of the 3.2 OS. You may not need it for yours, but there's a 'thing' on Thingiverse that goes on top of the Furia, between it and the keyboard that helps keep it locked in the socket a bit better.

Jan your timing of his video to me its ironic as I just installed a Furia in my 600 worked perfect 1st try. I have a multi 4 rom switchable kickstart installed, it didn't have enough clearance between the Furia like yours so I added a dip socket as a spacer and gave it height to clear it and without hitting the keyboard so you could try that.

OS 3.2 works without any issues in my A600 alongside the Furia and the Furia really is absolutely PICKY with both SD- and CF-Cards brands and sizes. I never managed to get it to work with models larger than 512 MB, well, you can live with it...BTW: there is a nice GUI for furiatune - renders things much cosier...I´m using a 4,5 Amp power supply as well - might be an issue for some users...

the Furia appears to use actual CPU and FPU parts - that's interesting - guess there's plenty of those to be had for serving niche markets like retro computing (and with current chip shortage, perhaps even easier to get than some FPGA chips???)
