Glad to hear your subscriber count is going up. I wish I had videos of all the things I used to do with my Amigas back in the day. There's so much I've forgotten, which is one of the reasons I like watching your channel it reminds me very much of all the cool things I used to get up to spending days at a time with no sleep investigating some new piece of software or some hardware hack I'd found on a phreaking BBS.

That’s exactly it. All I’ve done for this channel is a bit selfish. I like to call it selfish and share. I adore my Amiga past. (and present) I wish to recreate it and share. That’s what this channel is about.

@@HoldandModify It's like being in the room with a friend (such as the one that lived in the flat above me and had an A600, back when my A1200 was my daily driver). Channels that produce content for the latest fad hold no little to no interest for me. Channels that are someone showing their passion for something, I'm there even when it's not a subject that I'm particularly interested in and even when the production quality is not top notch. I wish the YT algorithm could recognise this and promote to me more channels like yours as I'm far more likely to be interested in them than the multimillion view videos they keep thinking I'd want to watch despite me repeatedly saying I'm not interested.

Nice! I am looking forward to the new A630 that's being tested that offers an optional FPU. That will be a must buy. My A600 makes a great ECS games machine. I still do use it for graphics work too.

Nice upgrade! On my A600, ctrl and L alt, and R alt did not work, so i cutted keyboard connector to get better contact, but that was not good idea! Still no contact, so i put keyboard connector in upper position and got all keys to work! But i noticed sometimes when i do reset it just wait a bit!? Not too much but not the way should be! Maybe bad capacitors?? By the way A600 is a nice computer! Keep on 💪!

I have a Furia accelerator in my A600, along with a pcb based CF to IDE adaptor (no ribbon cable), I don't really have many issues with it, but some games don't like to run on Kickstart 3.1

If I remember correctly the A300 was intended to fill the price gap where the old C64 was. You are correct.
@HoldandModify Жыл бұрын
I noticed in the 2.05 Workbench install it lists A300 in the language selection.
@DavePoo2 Жыл бұрын
You sometimes get a PSU that says A300 on the bottom. According to Dave Haynie, it was going to be a super cut down machine, probably designed as a video workstation, with a built in genlock. But Commodore botched it up and just released it as what was supposed to be a cost reduced A500, but it ended up costing more.

Why does 64MB show more than 64,000,000. Computers count in Binary (base2) so 1KB = 1024 Bytes 1MB = 1,048,576 Bytes So 64MB = 67,108,864 Bytes For a computer to show a Decimal (base10) actually requires a calculation and often a rounding of the number. Most storage companies I believe now use base 10, so they can claim a larger drive size while actually selling you a smaller drive.
@HoldandModify Жыл бұрын
Woah.
@ShieTar_ Жыл бұрын
To be very technical precise: The binary units now should by as "KibiByte" (1024) and "MibiByte" (1048576), since Kilo and Mega do correctly describe the base10-prefixes and are used for a lot of purposes outside of computers as well. And yeah, almost all companies now do their commercial information in base 10, which leads to plenty of confusion when people look at their drive size in Windows, which still insist on giving drive sizes in Binary information. Which at Terrabyte-Level really starts adding up, what I bought as "8 Terrabyte" only ends up as 7.27 TibiByte (2^40) when viewed in the operating system. And infuriatingly Windows doesn't even use the correct abbreviation ("TiB" instead of "TB").

Have two Amiga 600s :) My personal favorite of the Amiga hardware - and ironically enough, some of the design considerations that were lambasted back in the day turned to be quite useful these days for expanding them far more than would probably have been dreamed of PiStorm with one & ACA630 with the other (have use cases for both) Also use WinUAE largely for configuring various environments Currently have a FPGA sidewinder (essentially a copy of UnAmiga) on order - plan on using it as an Amiga 1200 for playing AGA games as close to original level as likely feasible w/o having an actual 1200

@@HoldandModify had been thinking of getting a 1200 ... but, yikes! on the going prices these days on eBay ... figure the FPGA rig will be close enough (and could even play around with other cores) and for kicks, got my 600s wired up with a null-modem cable - old school networking :)

Hmm... wasn't the Amiga 600 more expensive compared to the A500? I know that they were trying to do an Amiga 300, but it ended up more expensive due to three factors.... ECS instead of OCS, PCMCIA slot and a built in IDE interface for internal hard drive, so they named it A600 instead.

This 600 is actually pretty sweet. The PCMCIA makes it immensely more useful. Especially in this modern era. The cheap and easy 2mb chipram upgrade is nice. IDE controller included. I guess, I don’t agree. The A600 is a cost reduced machine packed with some useful features!
