I remember hearing George Miller say that when writing Fury Road, he had developed enough story for a whole other movie. It sounds like this is that movie. Probably the reason as to why he did this first than to continue the story from where the first film ended.

Just wanted to say thanks for doing the review, I’ve watched mad max in a right puberty stage at 9 or 10 and been following the production of fury road every day since until it came out when I was 16 going on 17. Suffice to say it is THE ONLY movie where I’ve brought myself to watch it five time in theaters…the action and pure adrenaline always gets me every time like watching The Raid while Miller putting lots of modern action directors to shame! I am very sad to see Furiosa doing very poorly at the box office since I think it’s just as equally good while loving the fact it’s basically almost a retelling of the original Mad Max film. Today will be my forth time seeing it along being the last day to watch it on a premium Cinemark XD format. I took my father to see it and my friend to watch it so I’m spreading the gospel! I’m also proud to say I won an eBay bidding on a Furiosa poster signed by the entire cast and crew with a WB COA approval and a Cannes press badge for proof! I’m hoping it can make enough to warrant a sequel cause I don’t want to franchise turn into dust…Miller is such a genius director and the fact he’s 80 years old knowing how to make a narrative structure just shows how much of a passionate man he is. Here’s hoping for The Wasteland otherwise you deserve your retirement kind sir!

Yes, it's a bit too long. But it's a kick-ass revenge flick, pure and simple. That's what I believe makes it different. It's a character study and origin story, true, but at its heart it's a revenge flick. The world is familar, but I think some of the action seqiences were doing something new and exciting in their design. The longer action set pieces really were set up like mini stories with a beginning, middle and end. Lots of great tiny details and flourishes that set George Miller apart from most action directors. I found myself very locked in for this movie, but yeah, it's also too long.

Overall I liked it, the story and development of characters were good . What was disappointing the CGI, I was very aware of its presence in this movie, fury road you had to pull apart stunt vs CGI, this movie you have to find the stunt in the CGI. CGI dampens down the stunt. Still good but fury road was the movie, nobody wanted but needed. The reason this movie leans into more CGI was due to the nightmare time George had with the studio and on set, George coming from a medial background was very safety driven. Apparently he had lost a lot of weight due to stress and been in the desert for 100days. The movie was shelved with only the 2-3 acts. Allowed 3weeks for acts 1-4. I’m guessing the studio pushed him to more CGI on this and his age. Think he wanted to tell this story. The future of mad max is their, but not with George, it’s his baby, but I think Christopher Nolan with Tom hardy could do an excellent “the wastelands” story, new characters need to be brought in, the feel of the movie has to change. Time to move the plot forward. Got 10yrs before hardly grow out of this role
