Hey, Maggie. Quick note. I've binged at least half of all your YT clips. What's really satisfying is your log off speech. You say the same thing, but despite the binges, it never gets old. You remind us we can subscribe if want, you invite us to leave comments or watch videos but leave no pressure or judgment if we don't. You plug in your website and your commission, but it's not tacky. You're quick and to the point and you leave time to shout out your patrons who choose to support you. I know you've refined it to be as quick and Blunt as it can be but as a fan I appreciate the phrasings you use because it's not pompous or entitled and it allows me to be eager to continue to enjoy your voice and your videos like a safe space. I hope that all makes sense, I usually get tired of people who just tack on words at the end, but when you do it , it feels inviting and earned. Thanks! Keep doing what you've been doing.

One of my favorite points of comparison I've seen about Furiosa to Fury Road is that they are a double album. Fury Road is punchy and to the point while Furiosa is messier, more experimental, and more vulnerable because of that. Both sides enrich each other and stand out in their own way. These movies are miracles.

As an Australian I appreciated how much more explicitly Aussie this was than Fury Road. Obviously being completely filmed in Australia helps, the vastness of Australia's outback is so much more tangible in here and Mad Max 2 than it is in Fury Road (for me at least). I still prefer Fury Road overall as that film feels like a miracle of action filmmaking but this gave me more of what I love about the Mad Max world despite not having Max in it. I liked that the slower pace allowed for more of those purely Australian interactions between characters and it's great that a blockbuster with this sort of tone and confidence in its own world can still be made on this scale. It's a shame it's not doing well at the boxoffice.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for Furiosa. It is way too long . it's too reliant to CGI . And Chris Hemsworth came close to completely capsizing the movie. He is easily the weakest main character in any of the Mad Max movies . As one would expect he is completely too dimensional at best . And instantly kills the vibe of any scene that has the misfortune to feature him. But if his character enthralled you then my advice is to stay away from the road Warrior movie, far away the strongest entry in the franchise, and infinitely infinitely more intense than any of the other movies . There's nothing grimy about Furiosa . The road warrior is pure grime .

Good points! Especially the similarity between Furiosa and Conan's journeys. My problem is, as with many current films, the filmmakers love (coddle?) the character too much. And the story suffers as a result. The character has no real arc. She's fabulous vengeance... and that's not a story. The more engaging version is she's broken by Joe, rises in the ranks, doing crime and treachery, earning the vaunted title of Imperator. THEN she can redeem herself, rising like a phoenix in defiance of Joe.There's a ten year gap, so maybe that's in the 2nd prequel.

I’m impressed how people can take the loud sound on imax theaters as it’s too loud for me now. I watch in the regular theaters.

They need to start putting your videos higher up in the results; it's so annoying, and indicative of the state of things. Can't wait to see this movie.

You're nowhere near cheesy. Excellent review.

Loved every bit of this movie and I wish it was marketed better. The first trailers looked like a bad cgi fest. It wasn’t. There is a level of artistry on display that is rarely matched these days and makes the grotesque beautiful. It earns its R rating. I watched Fury Road right after and Furiosa does make that film even richer. Hopefully this movie will also find its audience.

This is my favourite Mad Max film... apart from the first two originals. I may rewatch.

Did you feel like there were too many green screen shots in this movie compared to the last one?

George Miller is 80 and has spoken about how the six month shoot for Fury Road was arduous and incredibly dangerous. He was stressed every day worried someone would get hurt or die. And the actors barely made it through. We're not getting another shoot like that. It makes sense why this one wouldn't be as practical.

You have used “blood on their hands” in describing directors. I get the sentiment but what exactly do you mean?

I rarely agree with Maggie, but I find her reviews still always intriguing.

Upset by a female protagonist? Seriously?

Hemsworth puts a villain on the screen that is not only out-and-out evil but sympathetic--his parents were murdered too! "We're all victims of the wasteland" seems to be the message here, a powerful one.

She is right about the Dune comparison I felt the same way. I loved Dune 2 it's a masterpiece but it's not as engaging or as immersive as Furiosa. Idk what it is exactly George Miller just knows how to make a super immersive world and movie.

I enjoyed it. It was done in chapters so that makes it appear to have more plot to it.

A couple days after seeing Furiosa I turned on Dune 2 at home. My immediate reaction was "Oh, this is like Furiosa/Mad Max if you stripped away all the fun stuff." I made it about 15 minutes and turned it off. I don't think I'll go back and watch it. I'd rather go see Furiosa in the theater again.
