Just saw it today and really enjoyed it. Just like with Fury Road, it looked amazing and the road battle /fight scenes where choreographed so well. There's something about Australian films where they just kick the cinematography up a notch! The story was okay. The acting pretty good - Chris Harmsworth's character was a lot of fun. And Anna Taylor Joy did a great job as a younger Furiosa. But go to see the movie for the look of it and you won't be disappointed.

I didn't think they could top Fury Road, but they did. I didn't think Taylor-Joy would pull off a young Furiosa after how well Theron played the part. But she did, stellar performance. The real surprise is Hemsworth. Best performance of his career in my opinion. Didn't think his character as the villain could be played with such depth - he was perfectly cast, and wouldn't be surprised if he gets several best supporting actor nods during award season. The quality of the acting overall was a surprise, but I expected awesome action sequences, and it didn't disappoint: the War Rig fight scene is just awesome. Miller and his team stepped it up even more from Fury Road, still giving the same look and feel of the brutal Wasteland, but with even more grittiness and realism, obviously taking advantage of advances in production since 2015. Overall it is one of those rare prequels that is better than what was already a great sequel. I can't wait to watch it again when it is out on streaming and watch Fury Road immediately after.

Interesting. I think Fury Road is better. But to me, this is credit to George Miller: he NEVER makes the same movie twice, unlike other directors who always make the same film over and over with diminishing returns. I also didn't like Beyond Thunderdome that much, but I know some people loved it out of the original trilogy. I hope Miller makes the Wasteland, and surprises us again with a different kind of story. Fury Road definitely revived the series, but Furiosa took too long to release and people aren't going to the theaters as much because inflation is crazy. It is not doing well in the box office, but I hope it recovers a lot of money on the home release.

Honestly, I don't get this movie one bit. At the beginning of Fury Road; Furiosa is lauded by the Immortan Joe and the Warboys as the Imperator Furiosa; the one who drives the Rig, she's presented as this great someone who's held in high regard by all of them, someone Joe trusts, someone the War Boys admire. Where... does that come from, in "Furiosa"? Her interactions with Joe are non-existent, the War Boys don't even recognise her; she's basically a yes-man to a faceless characterless guy named "Pretorian Jack" and she's completely unremarkable and uninteresting from the Citadel POV. The scene where she tells Joe he should leave Dementius to her is especially unnerving; he doesn't even regard her. How does that connect to the combastic announcement of The Imperator Furiosa in Fury Road? The ending had THE CHANCE to make this right. When, like a complete idiot, she stands too close to Dementius, he should have lunged and attacked her, as he would have if there wasn't for stupid plot armour. Then, Joe and his guys could show up and save her from the brink of death... and Joe could have mistakenly interpreted her path of revenge as her loyalty to him and sacrifice for the Citadel. This could have created a bond of trust from the Immortan's side; logically leading up to that opening scene in Fury Road. But, they failed to do this, instead they opted for an absurd idea of a tree growing out of a man's crotch; ROFL... and more pathetically, the Immortan Joe clearly having 0 say or knowledge about what's going on in his own black yard. But he's been forced to drop the ball as early as he's made to ignore a full life breeder disappeared from his bride's pen and not even conducting a proper search after her. The original comics published after Fury Road depicted Furiosa as infertile, and Joe letting her rise in the ranks of War Boys, which was a much better story than what we got in Furiosa the movie.
@tkell317 ай бұрын
I think her bringing back Dementius and turning him into plant would endear her pretty quickly to Joe. And who knows how much time passes between her doing that and helping the wives escape, but making that more obvious would seem to be a good idea. Certainly Theron's character seemed significantly older than where we leave off with Taylor. For a movie ostensibly to fill in Furiousa's background it may have focused on Dementius too much.

I enjoyed the movie, but some parts left me unsatisfied. 1. I wish they showed the aftermath of Furiosas escape from the wife vault. Like, two scenes when the bad guys notice she is gone and do something about it, and then how she outsmarts them. Since the women held in the vault are very prized by immortan joe, I wish there was something to show the consequence of her disappearance. 2. I wish they developped Jacks and Furiosas relationship just a little bit more. I was certain he is tricking her to reveal the location of the green place the entire time, until the badass incident at the bullet farm. Also just like two scenes showing how they started to trust or take care of each other in the horrible authoritarian reality that they were in. 3. I wish they showed how Furiosa rose up in ranks and got trust from immortan joe. Like, in Fury Road, she is seeking redemption, and its implied she did some terrible stuff to become someone respected by the powers of the citadel. And I loved it - the idea that she is not a good character, but is doing something good to redeem herself, in the process taking down a terrible dictator. And while I don't want personally to watch autrocities committed by her, maybe instead something to show how immortan joe noticed her intelligence or some value to his fucked up order. In the middle of the film I thought she would be noticed and celebrated for somehow delivering Dementus to immortan joe, and gaining his trust or respect this way, but in the end they showed a different fate for dementus. Which was yeah, poetic justice, but like, so improbable that it pulled me out of the story. Otherwise, cool movie, will watch it again. But Fury Road remains my ultimate favourite 🔥

Furiosa 9/10. I'm going again next weekend to rewatch it. Too many people are talking crap about this movie without seeing it because there's no Max and a female lead when it's a fantastic action movie. There's Hemsworth who is a beast and incredible.

Would love to see this series continue. I just worry about the "low" box office numbers for Furiosa discouraging the studio heads.

This was the best movie of the year for me. Epic in every way and better than Fury Road even. I enjoyed it much more than Dune 1 and Dune 2. I had very little expectations based on some reviews but man, it exceeded all my expectations. Definitely worth paying for it at the theater.

Also the mother's empathy is what killed her, knowing it may well lead to that, she let her own empathy shine brighter than her fear for survival

I feel like you got the timeline wrong. Jack making a deal with Furiosa happened way before them going into the gas town...

Loved it! Yes. I’ll go back to see Fury Road but only for context to the story. George Miller knows how to make films that go beyond effects and deliver some story lines and symbolism. Some just want to watch the world burn. Same with amateur movie critics…aren’t we all?

I dig Furiosa It is a wonderful movie i have seen it 3 times Furiosa has badass action scenes and Dementus is hilarious despite his brutality i give Furiosa 10 out of 10 stars

I agree. It is the best girl boss movie. No Mary Sue, no force powers like Rey, no superhero powers like captain Marvel, and she gets hurt and loses an arm as no plot armor. Honestly didn't think a small fry like Anna Taylor could carry this movie but she did great. Jack was great too like a mad Max kinda guy.

Why in the end did Furiosa not return to the green place? I don't buy she didn't know the way due to her arm being cut off. Since the map was on her arm since childhood, you'd think she'd know it by heart.

The evil villains always like to say how the heroes are really "not so different." It's basically the most hackneyed line imaginable.
@Hi.im.V7 ай бұрын
yes but here it was to humanize and villain and dehumanize the hero, it was done in a way that added a lot of depth to the villain’s character and resulted in the culminations climax of the main character’s arc

Do you mention Furiosa's 'other mother's words to her mother before mom rides off after the kidnappers--something like "no one can know we live here" ... will I find out about 'the land of many mothers' in one of the mad max movies I haven't seen yet (having only watched this one)?

This movie didn't work for me on several levels but the ending pushed it way overboard. Just a really bizarre choice

Being that it is an origin story it moved slower than Fury Road but it was still enjoyable with some great action and acting made me appreciate Furiosa as a character

11:49 I was confused by the multiple fates of Dementus. They showed Furiosa shooting him in the back of the head. Then a voice-over said something about people wishing he died in a more punishing way which you described here. But I don't know which death was real.

🤦Yeah...nobody knows. It's like someone retelling a story and filling in the part they don't know.
