You are perfectly correct with the cute overload. It's the kind of car that you feel guilty about leaving in the supermarket car park and not putting it on a lead and trying to persuade said supermarket to let you bring it in to the store and help you with choosing your shopping. Oh and you would 'have' to garage it in the winter with a little heater and say goodnight to it before bed. I do love these classic runabouts that Italy so brilliantly styled.

Just one observation Matt.Eduardo Bianchi actually founded his company making bicycles,and the company is still very much going,making them the oldest bike company in the world,although unfortunately their frames are now made in the far east.Lovely little car.If I lived in a liitle village,I would use it to do my shopping.In fact,so small is it,you could use it as a sit on shopping trolley inslde the shop itself!

Saw one of these at a car show a few years ago parked next to an Aston Martin DB5. The owner of the DB5 was looking at the crowd gathered around the Bianchi, wondering why it attracted so much interest. He'll never understand why!

What a gorgeous little car! I like Autobianchi immensely- they made some really interesting little Italian cars - and were really a test-bed for FIAT’s innovations……I also own a Bianchi bike - which is where they began!

The vans were sold in RHD in the UK for many years. They were the cheapest car or van you could buy. Hubnut has a test of a UK original.

Very cute indeed! I saw one during my holiday in southern Poland, along provincial road DW 969 near the town of Dębno. As you can see on Streetview, it has been standing there (as an eye-catcher) for some time (in the yard of a car dealership that also has younger used cars from Italy). Never seen such a car before, but even in passing, the little car immediately reminded me of the 500 Gardiniera.

As someone has mentioned they were produced in RHD even for the home market for the lucky folk living in the Alps and those that didn't want to be stung by a Vespa stepping out of a parked car in a busy city.

Never seen this car before. Ideal for narrow streets of Italian villages and towns. The original mini being a competitor, mind you this car seems to have smoother ride and more practicality (sorry Mini fans).Nissan perfected concept with the Micra.

Bianchinas were lovely and somewhat upmarket. Very much a doctor's wife car, if you see what I mean. The 'trasformabile' and cabriolet were utterly delightful. Bianchinas were also imported into the US, alongside Fiat 500s. The van version was used by the Italian postal service, and Telecom for many, many years, probably well into the '80s, very much along the lines of Morris Minors in the UK. The horn sits behind the front fake grill.

Recognising the parts bin bits.(Ash tray cover for one) The stalks in Trademark disintegrating plastic. Our Fiat 850"s cracked as well Fiat appeared to make their keys out of aluminium too as the ignition key would slowly become more and more bendy!

When I had a somewhat souped up Volvo 142 with a Weber 36DCD, the original Sprint airfilterbox could either take the original somewhat expensive airfilter or the AutoBianchi A112 Abarth filter that fitted deasently good. But as the A112 had an engine of 800cc the filter clogged up fast as my over boared B20 to B21 pistons sucked much more air into it with it's 2150cc. After changing a few times I decided to build an own system with the largest filter I could find to a common car at the local gasstation. This ended up being a Saab 99-900-9000 filter and I buildt a housing and found an Volvo plastic air hose that ended in a big but flat intake over the standing carburator, just fitting under the hood. I modified it to use the Volvo original flap that took heated air around the exhaust manifold as the 21mm throttle body on the first port of the mechanical 36DCD frose over when the temp was down at 10 degrees C and it rained, it had a high airflow. The A112 Abarth was launched as a Golf GTI killer, how it managed that I don't really know. :)

You're right. They were mostly sold in Italy and a few other countries in Europe. Other than Italy Bianchinas were quite popular in France.

Eek! Never heard of it, never seen one and obviously never sat my ass in one . Shades of a Hillman Minx from a certain camera angle. Maybe have a wee shot in one but i wouldn't have it on my drive way. However commentary and descriptions were as usual top notch. Thanks for vid. This is unusual for having white not chrome bumpers. But another one that was for sale had a white painted fake grille. The steering wheel is standard 500 but the dashboard/instuments are not.

We had a G reg one in the mid 1970s and it was right hand drive; pretty sure it was not converted RHO 614G (sadly no more I fear)
