I am an Aerospace Engineer that enjoys working with my hand. Woodworking has always been a paradigm of artistry that has been cathartic whenever i work on a project. Its hard to describe, but i have Metalworker, Worked on complex mechanisms, electronics, but nothing soothes me more than woodworking. Im building cabinets right now, so i supposed its fortuitous that i saw your channel.

Great stuff! Since it is your first time with the domino, make sure you use dust collection, otherwise your mortises can get funky. Great looking cabinet!

That’s a great point ! yes I noticed that but was trying to push forward with getting the footage. I really didn’t even think about it but I actually do have the vacuum that can hook to it . I use it for the festool orbital sander . Definitely going to hook it up and see the difference. Appreciate it!

I’m a below average cabinet maker, and the Festool domino makes it look like I know what I’m doing correctly for sure. You sir are very talented, I like watching your videos for a better look into different ways of going about fabrication.
@cabinetwise9 ай бұрын
It definitely was easy to use which is what I’m looking for . Thank you ! Glad there could be something useful. Everyone seems to do it a little differently.
@Oakley-TL9 ай бұрын
@@cabinetwise it changed my method of using dado’s for my face frames. Hard to get even pressure when you are running 8ft long boards through. So now the domino replaces that part of the fabrication and still allow me to finish my face frames off the boxes so I’m not wasting time taping off boxes to spray and still leaves my small shop open enough to manage pieces.

First time I tried a domino with the dust extractor I wondered what wizardry just happened before me. Try it. Simply amazing. I would also crew the base to the face frame for good measure. Counter sunk of course. Beautiful cabinet.

The window isn’t calibrated at the factory. This can affect tight dominos when you reference the center line, so it’s important to calibrate with the screws.

Be cautious using the domino machine without extractor as I have broken a bid due to build up of saw dust can also heat up the bits more cutting sawdust over and over. I’m in Ireland and a small furniture /cabinet maker

There is a setting on the domino to automatically cut the opening tight, a little wider or a lot wider to give you some play if needed. You shouldn’t have to wiggle the domino back and forth as you cut. Love the 1/8th shadow line. I’m going to steal that design tip from you 😊

Good job, nice video. Congrats for the new tool. But I think you should take safety more serious. You should really use the riding knife
@cabinetwise9 ай бұрын
Good tip , appreciate it ! Sometimes I get too comfortable after doing this work for 2 decades . I’m not sure if the riding knife is something that it comes with but I’ll look into that.
@jayg68579 ай бұрын
He's talking about the lack of a 'riving' knife on your tablesaw. Especially important if you're cutting smaller pieces like your feet that could get trapped and cause a kickback.
@cabinetwise9 ай бұрын
Ah haha ! Yes ok now it makes sense . Yes I agree I have some bad habits . Even the push stick I was using was quite worn out and pathetic looking . These are things to definitely consider . I have had wood kick back and it’s no joke!

@cabinetwise9 ай бұрын
Aha ! Good to know . Yeah I was really trying that out in real time so I have a lot to learn about it. I appreciate the tip . I’m going to play around with it a bit more this afternoon.
@jayg68579 ай бұрын
One important counterintuitive tip about adjusting the mortise width on the domino...you only change the setting with the tool running, never with it off. The smallest setting is the exact with of the domino, the other two are a little or much wider. Never change the setting with the tool off or it could damage the tool when you switch it on.
