When a bargain isn't quite what it appears.
No kerbside collection in my rural area and free pieces are quite are to pop up. After seeing this for the bargain price of $40 let me tell you. I jumped in my car and headed on a 1 hour drive to collect. In a poorly lit garage appearances can be deceiving. I thought she's the perfect candidate for a client waiting on a custom finish. The trip home was spent planning, in my mind the step by step journey she would go through to become a gorgeous sideboard. Envisioning a sideboard someone would be proud to have in their home. In 2 days time her glam makeover would be finished. Covered and curing, waiting for collection. Up early the next morning to unload, low and behold from the back of my car I dragged out a chipboard, maybe should have gone to landfill cupboard.

About me. Hi I'm Belinda from beautiful Queensland Australia and a full time furniture refinished. The pieces I work on are either custom or available for sale to support myself. I first started painting in my late teens, walls actually. The first furniture flip came in my mid 20's on a pine desk and chair set gifted for my then 3 year old daughter. Sanded back the yellow lacquer with a griding sanding wheel. Only to apply, what I didn't realise at the time was more yellowing lacquer. That poor table had so many highs and lows. Couldn't lay straight in bed if it tried 😅 That was back when the only real choice here from the hardware store was oil based yellowing paint. She is 27 now and that set is long gone. Paint choices have evolved to a whole new level and social media has an overwhelming amount of knowledge, which I for one am extremely grateful.
