When he almost drilled his hand, I decided that a drill is not the power tool, for an amateur like me. I once assembled a round table from Kmart, an entry table from ACE, and a book shelf, from Better Homes and Gardens. Don't give that power drill to Charlie any more!! That was a close call!! ​@OldDunollieman If you use thicker wood pieces instead of furring strips, you can make the table as sturdy as you want. This table is designed to go behind a couch and against the wall, and it doesn't have much need to be super sturdy.

Pointer - from another DIY thrifty Mom. Get a Kreg pocket hole hug next time. It’s super easy and allows you to hide your screws and makes the table even stronger. The small one is only $20 but you can use it on all your projects in the future. To save money get cheaper wood screws with the matching tip to the jig. I LOVE mine!
