I was in 8th grade during the Twilight craze and we had I guess proto furries? They thought they were werewolves and they scraped bark off of trees to "mark their territory". One lunged at my sister on all fours trying to bite her leg when she got too close to the tree. A few students were successfully bitten by these kids and it turned into a huge fiasco for the school. I definitely do believe that these kids are biting people because I saw it myself years ago with a similar group of people.

I actually dug VERY deep with this one for some reason. Here's everything that I've found out about it up until now (There are SOURCES marked in square brackets but KZbin don't allow any links to be posted or mentioned in the comments). In a middle school in Payson, Utah County, about 10 kids, who maybe called themselves "furries" or was called it by their peers were said to be harrassing many kids at that school, like barking, chasing, licking, biting, or "sparying people with 'anti-human' sprays." [1][4] These events seems to repeat until kids at the school can't take it anymore, and with permission of their parents, around 50 kids went protesting for the school to stop tolerating these kids.[1] This end up gaining alot of traction and attention from everyone and from the media.[2] On April 17th, News caught on and the school ensures that these things are false, saying that it's only kids who were wearing cat / dog ears. The school then said that this happens because the kids at school were harrasing these kids wearing headbands; and all parents, from receiving an email about the situation, misinterpreted that the school was favoring the headband kids.[3] Soon, from The Blaze Media, photos and videos gets out and shows proof of it actually happening, showing scenes of kids complaining of being sprayed, barking, chasing and walking on all four, etc. Although there were no evidences showing biting, licking or any form of physical harrasment except for spraying air freshener.[4] Furthermore, one parent states that she believes a video was cut off context, that rather just shows kids playing during reccess walking on all fours and barking. However, herself and other testimonies has confirmed that the videos and photos are from the exact school and were legit events that occurred.[10][11][12] The school officials believes otherwise, stating how these are from different schools, how this doesn't happen because of strict dress codes.[5] (Whether of not if it was from this school, it shows that this behavior can happen and has happened) A few days after, some mallicious people had twice threatened to set off the school, and also said "furry" kids' homes because of the viral news (now that's extrememe and way off the situation).[6][8] That then made the police show up to warns the school to keeps their childrens safe and at home for the time being.[7]On the 24th of April, after many police investigations, the school is deemed "safe and classes will be held as scheduled today.”[9] The Payson police also interviewed kids and parents, showing how the protest kids also contributed to the situation and had harrassed the "furry" kids in the past.[8] From a testinomy of one of the parents of the "furry" kids, they have had to pull them out from school because of the harrassment that this situation has garnered.[10] On April 29th, There have been another threat directed towards the school as the situation begins to become more and more extreme. There is no more updates further than this point.
@snowflakewhite50684 ай бұрын
Thank you, thank you for all this information, it really makes the entire situation clear
@degg60694 ай бұрын
Here's my 2 cents and theory of a congruent story from all I've known, Understand that there are 3 sides, 1 - the therian kids (who might not even be, but wears accessories alike) 2 - the protest kids (who are against the former) 3 - the normal kids (who were not really involved in any of this situation but were still affected by it) This situation is a growing of tension between all sides in the Mt.Nebo Middle School. Some therian kids of the school were harrased by the protest kids, and some were harassing other students, including the protest kids, as a defense; this range from the therian kids spraying and barking to the protest kids physically bullying the therian kids and throwing food at lunch. The protest ended up gaining a ton of popularity and blowing everything out of proportions, leading to further extreme actions and having kids being pulled out of school. All of this mess really could've been prevented if both the school and the parents had enforced the rules and moderate their kids ( *ON EITHER SIDE* ) better and more efficiently. Situations like this needs to be resolve as quickly as possible as soon as *ANY* student is harrassed or made uncomfortable. Expanding on Strudel's advice of keeping personal hobbies out of school (even I follow that, thus Strudel was right all along), kids should not beable to get into any extreme hobbies or beliefs (**furry, anti furry, therian, anti therian**) too deep too soon, thus only should take it as a light hobby on the surface, witholding until they can actually understand and have a grasp of their hobby.

@snowflakewhite50684 ай бұрын
@@degg6069 In all honesty, I completely agree. Both with yours and Strudles point (sorry, I can't spell well). The students that were causing problems should have been delt with separately and decisively. Everything was handled grossly and alowed to be thrown far out of proportion, blaming one side of things and involving a community that wasn't involved in the first place. The kids are missguided and the ones that were meant to guide them just let them progress into a deeper rabbit hole of bias and missinformation. If anyone is to blame, it's the adults for not getting to the root of the problem and stopping it from becoming a problem in the first place. But that's just my personal opinion.

Bro we weren't even allowed to wear jeans in high school in case there were poor kids who couldn't afford decent jeans. The school enforced uniforms because they didn't want anyone to be bullied for their appearance or the clothes they can afford wear. And I say that as a poor kid who wore second-hand clothes! Jeans weren't a big deal, understandably having underage girls dressing lasciviously is an issue that is negated by uniforms. Dressing up like a furry and walking into a classroom *is not normal* and *should not be normalized*

Believe me, uniforms don't stop the sIuttíshness - I went to Catholic school and some of the girls had their kilts pulled up to their bras.

How do we know there are that many furries that go to that school? There's no evidence of it happening for a start.
@Nystariii4 ай бұрын
@@Naptosis Absolutely true. But to be fair, what else can they do at that point except enforce the rules they've implemented and tell them to 'wear it properly' lol. Our high-school actually had a rule about skirts/dresses only in summer/fall, and if they were above knee-length you had to wear tights. No tights? All day detention and a letter to your parents about acquiring a pair, or acquiring funding for a pair. Rest of the year was black/navy leggings or dress slacks. Sorry lol, this isn't a post to advocate for uniforms or anything, I'm not about that. I just can't believe schools are like "yeah sure why not come in in a fur suit?" Again, I got sent to detention for wearing jeans the day our washing machine broke and I didn't have any clean skirts or slacks, but these kids are being coddled while showing in cosplay? What a world.

@@Crazypug2881 It's always good to ask questions, and I agree, where are the videos? My second one would be, why would the kids lie? What do they gain? Meanwhile, we know the schools are happy to lie when they know the truth will get them in hot water. To say nothing of protecting their funding and employees.
@Crazypug28814 ай бұрын
@@Nystariii I agree with you on that part that schools in general will lie. Although thinking of it from a different perspective, most of these kids are from middle school and most people who hate furries (like people who actively go out of their way to hate on furries) are commonly at middle school age. It wouldn't be too big of a surprise if some of these kids found out what a furry was or if someone just took something like a tail or a fursuit head to school and these kids are blowing it out of proportion. Like I said, if there were as many as 30 people who actively wore fursuits and bit people at that school, I'm pretty sure there would be video footage for criminal evidence, school security cameras, and videos filmed by students for Snapchat/TikTok. But nobody has been charged even though its assault nor has any criminal evidence been provided. Hence, I personally believe its been overexaggerated. Sure maybe a few kids brought in a fursuit but surely not 30 of them.

The kind of things that went down at my highschool only escalated as time went on, and I think I graduated just before it got awful. Needless to say this kinda hit home for me a bit. The lengths people will go for a sense of community is wild and furries are the biggest example of this. I remember kids going in full neon rainbow clothing with capes on and comfort plushies. This one kid went by the name Sparrow and brung this crusty yoshi plush with black dusty skid marks on it. I'd say nothing if it were just one kid, but it was a full gang of them; ~30 I'd say. I've heard kids sitting in the table next to me talk about how they had plugs in and giggling about it. The horror on my face as I turned to see these fishnet wearing kids with tails on. Its absolutely disgusting. But I don't blame them, since we all know exactly why they got this way. Very sad.

Here’s some info about this: The principals daughter is a furry in which obviously middle schoolers hate because they are very closed minded so they decided to spread rumors and say “they are biting and pouncing on people :(“ oh but guess what? There is no evidence of this. The won’t show the camera footage and none of the kids have even show the bite marks they all complain about when realistically they would have. Oh and what’s crazy? Look in there hands, they all have phones. Obviously they just want something to get hyped about and be like “we’re so famous!” with there peers. I don’t care if you don’t like furrys, but spreading false information about it to the point it ends up on the news channel? It’s a hobby. It’s just an animal version of cosplaying. Schools need to bring back formal school clothes imo. I'm a furry and went to a school like that anyways which worked without kids really complaining. Furry is a dumb hobby we do because we like content involving cartoon animals. The morons stretching this towards an identity is the problem we face. Not for 1 second do I believe I'm a dog or otter or whatever and I would've had my ass kicked in school if I talked like that. This isn't a furry problem it's an entitlement problem from what I can only guess is a severe lack of discipline at both the school and home.

The wearing ears, growling, and barking I believe. Maybe even a bit of biting. But those kids were so capping about the 11-year-olds wearing plug tails. Where would they even get those? If the school were aware that a young minor had possession of and was utilizing sexual paraphernalia, it would definitely escalate to faculty and child services interrogating the families. I believe there's weird kids being cringe in school and causing a noticeable distraction. But I also think some of the things being said are just straight up fabricated for the sake of making them look worse.
