My Fursona started off as my imaginary friend that turned into my OC before finely becoming my sona. At first she was a brown fur wolfdog with blue eyes and white wings that she could summon. Then when she became an OC I added a rainbow tail with fluffy head fur, as my persona I felt she needed something more not much but something...so I gave her head fur a pink tip and BAM my Fursona is complete lol

This is a really nice video! My fursona is a Dalmatian/golden retriever mix. She's 5"2" She has a teal pixie cut with straight across bangs and facial piercings. She tries to put on this "Tough" look because it's often what people project onto her (Because she is very alternative and loves wearing black and leather jackets.) But on the inside, she's a snuggly cuddle monster and has a huge heart. uwu

Mine is a black Protogen. She's 6"3 and has areas around her claws, horns and hair that look like the night sky. Her claws (Protogens don't really have paws but instead, flexible claws) have the same design. She always wears gaming headphones and will most likely be seen in a hoodie. It's pretty rare to see her without a hoodie on. For her hairstyle I chose two strand twists (they look like a cross between braids and dreads. Same hairstyle I have) she really enjoys gaming. And finally she has two short demon horns in front of her two deer antlers. Her tail is also somewhat raptor like.

When I first made my fursona, I made them a cat because cats are my favorite animal but later on I found that my fursona's species did not match who I am so i looked for an animal i could relate to. My fursona is now a deer because they are skittish and gentle but they do get feisty when being protective, that was the animal I related to the most.

I’ve been in the fandom for years and now I’m creating another fursona so I can express myself through him. He’s a cat rabbit hybrid and I’m in the process of his design. Because his personality is supposed to reflect who I am, I feel it is too complex to put one label on it. To summarize it, basically both my fursona and I are apathetic towards most things but can be overly passionate about others. His design is based off of my favourite part of winter which is the polar night. His name, Kaamos, means polar night. His two main purposes are for him to help me express myself when I cannot and to see how well I can make him into a fursuit.

My fursona is simple like yours, a brown top coat, white undercoat, and blue eyes and flesh. Sometimes I worry she might be too basic. It'd be cool to have a complex character. But she's been my fursona for 8 years, her design has basically never changed (and I've no intentions to ever do so), and I've been so close with her ever since I first created her. I have a lot of history with her, she was my first online presence years before I ever joined the fandom so she's had so much time to grow, adapt, and become a close character to me. I've had so much fun growing close to her, that's definitely the most important thing

I agree with all of this advice, very well put! I personally had so much fun designing my first and second sona, and im very attached to them. As I got a bit older, i didnt feel my first sona represented me well anymore. The one i have now is a pastel little mutt who looks soft and cute, but is actually a real sourpuss lol. I remember when I designed him, it all came so naturally I didnt even think about it until it was done and then i was like "omg it me". Since then I havent related to another design more. Having fun with the design is key. Dont add things because you think others will think its cool, draw whatever you have the most fun with!

This was really helpful for back when I made my fursona I've gone through several sonas and kinda fallen out with each of them, either because I stopped liking the design, I didn't like their personality, or something else. So I did some research on how to make a good fursona, and I ended up making Bubble, the blue and yellow husky, he is now my main fursona and he is the best character i've ever made. His design is pretty unique, with blue fur, yellow eyes and nose, dark blue markings around the eyes, etc. He also has a very bubbly, innocent personality and loves space and playing the ukulele. Thanks for helping me bring Bubble to life!

I was a furry as a young child. Had a sparkle dog I drew for the better part of a decade. But then I learned that fursonas can be seen as cringey and that some people in the group like to be sexual with their characters, which scared me a little bit. I'm in my twenties now and drew mainly people in high school and college. It's good to be good at people and gesture drawing, but I missed my sparkle dog. A few days ago I said "fuck it. A thing I wanted to point out about the "complexicity vs simplicity" part is that usually we only see people giving advice on how you should not have extremely complex designs (with some rare exceptions), but I wonder if anyone else suffers from the lack of ideas/creativity where you don't know what details to add on the design, being extremely simple to the point it doesn't feel unique

Something that I added to my fursona to make him somewhat unique is triangular palm-pads (the very middle paw pad) and when I make his suit he will have a removable pair of teeth (he has an extra pair of shark teeth that grow when he goes in to attack)

Despite me already having a fursona, I still love watching videos like this! (Also I just love designing characters) I used to switch fursonas A LOT around before I got my current one. (I had my more mascotish sona, but I kept switching fursonas basically weekly, until I got stuck on Frostbite The Bat!) And I'd say the most recognizeble feature of my fursona is the artstyle she's drawn in, and her Guzma shades she always wears! She didn't always use to wear them, she has for a year now, and honestly it was a great decision! Any of my friends can recognize even the crudest doodle of her just because of those shades I borrowed. That outta the way, great video! Keep it up!

I know you mentioned it but I found it is absolute KEY to try and keep the design simpler side. You can have super complex characters and while you can do whatever you want with your fursona, adding a bunch of complicated extras that don’t exactly define your character just clog up the design. No matter what, there’s existed so many furries that it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to come up with a design that is 100% unique but that’s okay! as long as you aren’t blatantly copying others and you go with what feels right to you, that’s what matters! but as I was saying, simpler designs are easier to draw. They’re easier to commission art or even a fursuit for. Simple designs stuck more. I used to have both a dragon fursona and a really complex yeen fursona. While I still have both and would still consider ‘yeen to be my secondary sona, she was extremely difficult to draw all the time. My newest and main fursona is a minty green cat with very minimal design addons. This made it not only easier to draw randomly, but also the design more streamlined
