This is a pretty solid guide on how to start with making your first fursona or finding a fursona that fits you! Your fursona is your identity in the furry fandom, and you're allowed to customize them however you'd like! I put together some tips and ideas on how you can make a fursona of your very own!

I used to design fursonas based on my favorite colors and animals and give them similar markings to others in the fandom. It was only when I branched out and experimented that I found a design I loved. It's not representative of me in many ways physically, but I'm more connected to it than any design in the past.

Thanks this helps a lot cause at first I wanted to make a fursona of a wendigo or deer mixed with a lion but my acquaintance said I should just do a fox or wolf cause my personality that they knew got it better and said "They are both pretty plain like you and you are far from a fursona of a lion, you are to boring and calm to have that but a skittish deer should fit you well" I no longer speak to them cause of this and other reasons, SO AGIAN THANK YOU SO MUCH!

It took me a while to make my fursona mainly because of the species. I couldn't choose one, but I finally decided on a squirrel because they are precious children ❤️❤️❤️❤️ his colours are yellow, lime green and lavender because those are the same colours as my bedroom walls. Even tho that was actually a coincidence because I was using a random colour generator when those colours came up, and I really liked them probably cuz I see them everyday and it's my bedroom... for a long time I thought I would never find a fursona, but once I did it was the most amazing thing ever I was just like OwO yes

I really like the part saying how you can change your fursona at any time, and i feel like that's important to remember, because when i was a lot younger i had a fursona that over time i grew to really dislike, so i completely scrapped the character, i still kept some of the design aspects (such as colors, tail maws, etc) for my new character, whom i put a lot more thought into and ended up being much better

Watching this video after having already made my own fursona, almost everything here would've been useful. I was mainly inspired by Raeal the Protogen. Saw it, and I was like "Yes". Now my 'sona is a navy-blue floofball protogen tech nerd with wings that're like the size of their entire body. I could probably make another one, I'm no stranger to making 22 different- er, sorry, I mean, a single new character. Either way, I'll definitely keep this in mind in the future. Adler animated intro! And just in time for summer :D I sort of base my two main OCs on my personality (but amplified). One of them is cheery and kind hearted (which I try to be) but very curious and likes to ask questions. My other one is the "bad side" of me. He's sleepy, lazy, grumpy and doesn't enjoy social interaction. (Very stiff to talk to... quite literally). I think I would honestly want to perform in the second OC versus the first one. Because 1, I do get lazy and sleepy alot... and I'm a shy person. But 2, I feel acting over the top grumpy would help with any actual frustration I may have, because that "acting grumpy" can easily be shown as "he's so cute when he acts like that" kind of manner. It would be to the point where it was funny to watch. (Think Tayerr)

And then there's me, who had something like 20 unused D&D characters before joining the fandom. Naturally I used one of them as a fursona. Kobolds are best bois and gorls. Awkward thing is, being a D&D character, he already has a ton of backstory stuff that makes him difficult to roleplay in a furry setting. Example: he's engaged to one of my other characters, whereas I've been single my entire life IRL. Makes for some awkward situations when ERP starts up over discord. My advice: Making a D&D fursona is a good idea in my opinion, especially if you want to add a bit of additional flavor to the character. Just avoid making the backstory too over-the-top so you don't face situations like mine :)
