I think you need to attach sleigh runners to your cases! Phew you made your connecting bus!! I love Tromso, I’ve only visited by sea, but did get to see the northern lights there! Nice bijou hotel room! Great video 🍻

I'm glad that you liked our home country so much. It was not the only thing that you saved money by taking that bus route, you got a new experience too! It's a pity that it was so late that it was dark. That road after you changed the bus has stunning views and the further you go, the more beautiful they get. By the way, Palojoensuu means literally "Burn river's mouth". Finnish place names often have some reference to the terrain around the place :)

Funny thing about the bumby roads, also in summer you can clearly see how the road upkeep totally changes after border crossing. I've driven to Norway couple of times from Helsinki with friends, it's a long journey, but good thing about doing it in the summer is you can just set up a tent pretty much anywhere for the night. One time we slept by a river and another time just at a resting place by the road. Same thing in Norway, we have few favorite camp sites on the coast, from the first T-turn, you turned left to Tromso, our usual spot would have been near Skibotn which is right from the T-turn. So if camping is your thing, the Nordic countries have the right to roam which means camping almost anywhere, picking berries and mushroom in the forest etc. There's a wikipedia article on it. Tromso is a cool city, been there just once. I have never eaten in a restaurant in Norway because of the prices! Just fishing, groceries and gas station burgers.
@JacobandJennyTravel2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a great road trip!! We will have to try it in the summer! And that totally makes sense, we will be buying most of our meals at the grocery store too! Thanks for watching :)

Unfortunate that you travel during the polar night time. You did travel thru one of the best scenery between Finland and Norway. Kilpisjärvi- region in Finland and the Lyngen alps in Norway. But it would be a good excuse to visit again during summer time :)

If you decide to visit Finland in summer I would probably suggest that the best time for that would be in July, for the best chance to have a good weather. I'd say that the real Finnish summer is between June and August, before that it's spring and in September it starts to get colder eventually 😄 I'd recommend to see more of the Southern Finland during summer, since there are so many different sceneries to be viewed. From Southern Finland's cityscape to East with all the lakes (Saimaa) and West/Middle with the large fields and countryside. The scenery does change quite a bit from I'd say upwards of Jyväskylä 😄. Of the temperatures, usually in warm days it's between 20-30 degrees Celsius but nights can be closer to 10. Rainy days lower the temperature so it can be lower but that's considered cold even in here 😄 But a jacket is a good thing to have with you. For me the best temperature is 20-25, anything higher than that is too warm for me to enjoy sports or doing anything physical outside 😅

The first thing yoo´ll notice in norway is that going out to eat at an restaurang isn´t cheap. And soda like coce or anything else that contains suger is expensive. Norway has an "sugertax". Or having a pizza that´s pretty expensive too. But if you turn your blind eye to that. The mountines, the hikes you can do there and the fjords in norway is wonderfull. And one thing about the norweigian salmon is that it´s farmed. Norwegiena salmon is big business. It´s not the same as wild catched salmon like you can get in Finnland or other scandinavian countries if your lucky. And if you are lucky taste the berrie called cloud berries (hjortron). It is a berrie known as the "forrest gold". I wish you all the best and hope you get to see the best parts of norway like you did in finnland.
@ImaginarySpace2 жыл бұрын
I don't think we have any more wild catched salmon than you do in Norway 😂All salmon we have is from Norway and other than that we just have Rainbow Trout available. I think that one is also farmed. You want salmon from nature. You pretty much have to fish it by yourself.
@mathias612 жыл бұрын
Of course you can taste cloud berries in Finland too. They are not Norwegian specialties only, but very common in Finland too! In any case, have a great time in Norway 😀
@kognak66402 жыл бұрын
@@mathias61 Cloudberry grows on bogs and 30% of Finland is bogs. It's indeed very common.

It is expensive because people who work in shops and cafes in Norway earn better than in any country in the world. This of course has an impact on the price. Expensive is a relative term. For Norwegians, it is not expensive.

Yes that totally makes sense! Thank you for watching :)

If you liked Finnish outdoors, Norway is even better. A little rainy, though. But those fells, mountains and fjords... Seafood is among the best in the world. In Tromsø, the wreck of battleship Tirpitz is a must (for me at least).
