This show is so amazing! Love it when Branford joins. All four shows were top notch, wish I was there...sigh. I did see Marsalis play with the Grateful Dead on NYE 90/91 also for the whole 2nd set. His band opened that night also. I honestly think that Furthur is a better band than The Dead were towards the end, and they keep getting better! So sad to hear of the hiatus, though I wasn't surprised. Forever grateful to have had them in my life at all!

i was at this show its the closest you can get to the 80's and 1990. i was at some of the most classic shows of that era. if people think they will see power like rich stadium or rfk circa 1986. forget it. the power of just phil and jerry together will never be duplicated. this is a tame version just try to enjoy.

drove out to these shows (Minneapolis) in my 81 Datsun pick up! What a treat to have Branford wrap it up nicely. I got in early one night and was up pretty close by a roped off area for big shots. Two elderly people were working it to make sure nobody got in the preveledged seats....it was nearly empty. At set break I asked the Lady...a granny really: "You Must get contact high at some of these shows. She didn't bat an eye and told me the story of somehow commandeering a bag of Cheetoo's on the way to her car one night. People were saying 'Your hair is on fire!" She be like: say wha?? When she got in her car and looked in the mirror here gray hair was ORANGE from devouring cheetoos! way funny

Been seeing The Dead since the late 60s and I acknowledge that things change, and that "Further" is an extension of The Dead and wouldn't expect them to stay the same but, this show is just lackluster; I'd have been curled up under my blanket and sleeping by mid-show!
@dalebender4422
@dalebender4422 10 жыл бұрын
Are you implying that the GD never gave us any lackluster shows in all their time? You should probably give Phil and Bobby a break. This is, after all, the last night of a 4 night run. Maybe they're a little tired....
@MontyVonT
@MontyVonT 10 жыл бұрын
Dale Bender No, not at all. I was just trying to establish the fact that I am a fan, that I've seen 150 shows ± over the years and that this was one of the few that fell short for me. When they'd play a series of shows, I would make the whole series when I could ('cuz you never wanted the show you didn't go to to be The Show) and sometimes ALL 3 or 4 nights were totally on, some nights they (and the fans) just couldn't find their groove. I get it. This particular show just didn't take me there. Can you tell me that YOU never saw them when they were "off"...
@dalebender4422
@dalebender4422 10 жыл бұрын
MontyVonT Thanks for the cool Deadsume. To answer your question, I've seen shows that were both "off" and "on." I consider each show a gift though, and therefore a cause for celebration regardless of how it compares to any other. I'd never be found "curled up under my blanket and sleeping by mid-show!"

Wow...One of the greatest saxophonist of the past 50 years, and you can't even adjust his mic for a sit-in. I don't understand why they didn't use one of the other performers' mics while Branford's was being adjusted. What a complete waste. Can you image if that was done to a jazzer like Miles Davis, or Freddie Hubbard?

I know there is gonna be a million or maybe 2 million people who will not like this statement but, You have gotta be kidding me. I would hope that the people who dig this were just to young to see The Grateful Dead and they have no way to compare the drastic difference frum GD to these cats. Only my opinion i just hope there is a whole lotta hippy's who feel the same way.

I have listened to the harding theatre show u were at a million times lucky you,Bro. I know the tried and true GD has been over for quite awhile. I don't get why this dude john kandlestick wants to TRY to get Jerry's sound and style etc,etc why can't he make the music how he hears it and not try to mirror Garcia?
