The IJN CA buff is here, and one ship that really didn't need it is the Furutaka. Already monstrous, now it's something more, that dispersion on 203mm AP at T5 is disgusting, yet hilarious. You can find my recommended build at the end as usual.

Kongo should really get a buff to her sigma. But other than that, T10 is also really nice for IJN. Yamato is as good as it always was, Zao is still extremely powerful, and Shimakaze has gotten many nice buffs.

I always loved the Furutaka, even back in the closed beta before it had any buffs. It was the underdog that had some unique tricks up its sleeve. Always happy when it got buffs. But now that it's that strong I feel like its reputation will go down massively and I'm afraid WG will just "fix" this buff by making it squishy like the other cruisers.

I remember playing the original Furutaka in, it must have been CBT? Such a rough experience coming from Kuma, which was very friendly to play; but this ship actively fought you all the time. I remember using CTRL+X to lock the turrets while dodging during reloads because they were so slow to turn that if you didn't lock them they would end up all over the place and you'd waste even more time waiting for them to catch up again. Even then, it was never actually a *bad* ship, it still had the biggest cruiser guns at it's tier as well as really nasty torps, and would absolutely reward you if you put in the effort. It just was a *lot* of work to make her go, and not especially comfortable, unlike say, Omaha. But the Omahas were powercrept while Furutaka was continually buffed, and now look where we are.

i definetely class flamu as the best on the planet in skill, info and predicting peoples game play. myself being newish to the game currently up to this ship and running the ijn crusier line. im using 203 mm guns with 10 km torps and my captain so far is 6 points has priority target, adrenaline rush and just put the demo expert on him, next im thinking of going the concealment expert. hunting for the ZAO on the NA server. nice video as always King Flamu

The worst experience has to be the old stock pensacola. Less gun range than concealment, paper armor and 50+ seconds turret traverse on guns that has some of the least DPM in its tier. The whole ship just didn't make any sense.

Ah, the FurryTaco, one of my favorite ships ever. I got her since the beta version, when she only had the B hull. Even though I was a noob back then and onlyy had a couple of great matches, I still love her. She is the reason I wanna stay with the IJN cruisers

The Infidel oh no you're wrong. It's true that at that time she was very fragile. But the long reload of her guns forced me out of just spamming HE like an idiot in binocular view all the time, a big wake up call when I went up from Kuma. Instead I had the time to zoom out and have better control of the battle and myself. In the latest 20 battles, the worst one that I had was a defeat where I was in 6th position, sinking a Nagato all by myself

Furutaka was the last good IJN cruiser till you hit T10 imo. Going from Furutaka to Aoba just felt like a massive downgrade. Myoko and Mogami were no different.

i found all japanese destroyers to be extremly powerful since beta. the only thing which really hurt them was the introduction of more fast firering enemys, like british cruisers and such. yet they all behave like a mix between pocket battleship and destroyer which makes them so wonderful. easily the best multipurpose ships, there is no situation you cannot overcome with those ships.

I played sprint in the Murmansk and I struggle so much, had to played from half the map away and still that shit can be citadel from the front, side, top, rear, everywhere, I just got a " Furutaco", upgraded all the way and put my Atago cap on it, a welcome ship.

I've been loving my furu since I picked her up around mid-Nov. I actually have a positive winrate and I feel like I have an impact in games. Also is a great CA to learn how to bounce shells and mitigate damage. I have to say though, playing Aoba doesn't feel the same. My shells go EVERYWHERE compared to my furrytaco. It's driving me nuts!

The buff which is locked to the guns is the Accuracy buff, while some ships like Ibuki and Myoukou received Reload and turret traverse buff respectively. The Atago, in this case, since she has the 203mm guns like all Japanese heavy cruisers, her guns are much more accurate. (It still complies with WGs promise of no buffing premiums since this is a gun buff for all ships of the same tree)

Problem with that final BB you torped is even if your team mates knew to hit the nose (which it's entirely possible they didn't) they dispersion on BBs at those tiers can be so bad they might hit everything but the nose, or nothing at all. Otherwise, yes, as usual one has to wonder how well WG thought through that dispersion buff when it comes to Furrytaco.

I got super-unicum WR (83%) and PR (2906) while levelling through the Furrytaco back in its single turret days and I was terrible then- I'm pretty bad now after 2k games and that was after about 200. Sure that's only 12 games but with mostly similar(ish) games at T4-6 I've only got better stats in the New Mex and worse in 34 other ships. I don't think it needed the last buff, let alone this one.

Did you not see how many citadel hits he got? 203mm AP can also citadel battleships, so why wouldn't you use AP? You would only ever use HE against angled BBs or against DDs. Another case where HE would probably be better is against T7 BBs, but that's it

The longer reload doesn't help them to do damage when they can't aim. Second reason is that the Furutaka has a massive shift in playstyle from the Kuma, which none of the other T5 cruisers experience. T5 is also no longer protected matchmaking, so when new players are shoved into a new experience and are suddenly fighting T7 ships, they have no idea what to do and perform even worse

Maybe you are lucky with this MM, but this ship is a crap! The range makes it impossible to operate when BBs nearby. They're out of your range while you are at a comfy range for them. The torps would be good, if you had concealment, but this way they're just decoration. And not to mention the reload. 15 secs? This is 1 of the most frustrating ships I've played!
