Not just for fur! Really good for people with long hair and long beards. My vacuum cleaner doesn't do a thing, but this sort of rubber broom gets my carpets as clean as new! Particularly effective for "trodden-in" hair. Use short strokes, pulling the broom towards yourself. A+. 10 out of 10. At only $10, definitely worth a try.

Scorpion hunting is a time honored tradition in the southwest. All you need is a portable blacklight, a bug smashing tool and maybe a flathead screwdriver to get into tight spaces. It also needs to be nighttime. Scorpions glow under a blacklight making them very easy to find at night. Just walk around outside and these things will be everywhere. Then...smash away. 🦂

I personal love these rubber brooms. I find they work best on hard floor to not kick up all the fur or dust while sweeping. I also use mine to bunch up and remove all the annoying clumps of cat fur that stick to my couch, much easier than picking them off with your fingers. It does require some elbow grease for carpet surfaces thought. Really I find it's main benefit is it DOES NOT kick up pet hair or dust while sweeping hard surfaces. Great for people in apartments with pets.
@rtd17914 жыл бұрын
I have the FlyLady’s purple version of this and it has been a game changer. I don’t know if the brooms are made of slightly different materials or what, but I love mine. It saves my vacuum from pet hair. I have a Bernese Mountain Dog mix and he sheds hair like crazy. He also has fur in black, white, and brown so it shows on everything. I brush carpets and hard floor surfaces with my broom and it’s great. Worst part is removing hair from broom to throw away. It also picks up dog food from around my dog’s bowl. I do have to use a hand held version to get the fur that collects between the carpet and the base boards. The hand version comes to a narrow point that fits better in the grove. Vacuums aren’t effective in that carpet grove. The hand held version is also the best tool I have for getting fur off of furniture and car seats. You can also use these brooms for spot cleaning carpets. When you have to scrub your carpet to clean up a pet mess or a liquid spill, it’s better to scrub with this broom than to get down on your knees.
@wandabissell4 жыл бұрын
Ha! I just realized you and I have the same sunglasses! Aside from that I have cats, and 40 year old battered carpets. My powerful vacuum does well, but I don't like hauling it up and down stairs. I found that a good stick vac to get the loose stuff, and an old fashioned rug rake with metal teeth for the fur and fluff that gets worked deeply into the pile does a great job.

We bought a broom just like that many years ago and we still have it but it was never advertised for pet hair back then. In fact, it was for cleaning hard floors. I had one of those brooms some years ago - different brand. At the time it was hailed as a wet and dry broom that could pick up pet hair. I found it didn't work on carpets so used it on the hard floor in my kitchen. It didn't last long and the brush head split where the handle goes into it. It was a waste of money.

I own a great pyrenees, which have very long, thick double coats. I bought the fur remover bc his fur has taken out 2.5 vacuums in 4 years. It is time consuming and physically tiring, but it has done wonders for the life of my vacuum (and trust me, I am very diligent in my vacuum care and was doing hand gathering of fur clumps anyway - this gets the fur thats just...*sitting there* on the top of the carpet). Side note, mine came with a squeegee side that helped with spills, and it easily sweeps up fur on hard floors. So definitely a product for certain breeds and people, and the people who need it will recognize that immediately.

If you use the broom like a push broom, it works better than pulling it toward you. I have a silicone broom for my extra long human hair to prevent my vacuum from burning up and it does pick up well. It's also a great scrub brush for tile and less textured concrete.
@hogwallowsoaps4 жыл бұрын
It actually works very well. You just have to use the correct short strokes and essentially “roll” the hair up. :)
@alienora424 жыл бұрын
I have the furremover, and it works well on carpet- mainly if the hair is kind of worked into the carpet a bit (which might be part of the issue you had: if the hair is already free of the carpet fibers, the stickiness of the rubber isn't as useful). I use it before vacuuming to keep long pet (& people) hair from building up as much on my vacuum brushroll.
@christophermc23 жыл бұрын
Using a grooming brush is probably the best way to get it done. Tried using squeegees, vacuum cleaners, bristle brushes etc but by far using a grooming brush is the best way to get the job done, they’re not very big but just a few strokes gets up like 5x as much as any of these tools can do.
@MarcPipistrello4 жыл бұрын
10-15 years ago it was called the "One Sweep" a silicone broom that was an ASOTV product as well. That version was all black. It was actually not a bad product, but didn't fare well on cement, brick and other outside hard surfaces. The other thing about the "One Sweep" was that you actually used lighter force on it. No need to press into the mess very hard.

The Chom Chom knock off (the white one) is amazing and inexpensive. I recommend them to everyone with hairy pets. The only thing they don’t seem to work well on is clothing. Important to make the click-clack sound as you use it, initially I wasn’t and thought the unit was pretty average till I changed my technique. They make a long handle version that isn’t as good but I’m led to believe that there is new design about to hit the market that should address the design flaws. Very interested in your vacuum though. Was very impressive at picking up the dog hair in one pass. I have 2 older (about 10 year) Dyson models that both really struggle and require constant follow ups. Have you seen some of the new Shark models with their pet hair rollers? They aren’t available in a Australia and I’m considering import one with a step down transformer.

they work great ive had a version of that for years (i have 3, 1 for outside, 2 inside, one for upstairs and one down) also i don't use it for pet hair i use it for human hair that has fallen off and trodden into the carpets (my mum is sadly losing her hair as almost everyone of her 14 meds has hair loss as a side effect) she has hair that's down her back and using the vacuum on the carpets without brushing first means i have to dismantle the vacuum so i can cut the hair off the roller thats just blocked the intake. one thing i will say is it helps to go with the grain of your carpet just like how you were brushing your dog, go the wrong way and you will make it harder on yourself and likely push the hair into the fibers. hardwood flooring was what it was first made for as the rubber bristles dont scratch the wood.

Rubber brooms have been around for over twenty years. But as you found out, they work better on solid surfaces. The reason some people like them for animal hair is this type of broom doesn't cause refuse to fly up into the air, in other words - no dust clouds while sweeping, and thus better for people with animal allergies with dander and hair. Though the better option is the vacuum as you demonstrated. The broom is great in the woodshop though as it can move large amounts of woodchips from around the machines. The squeegee is also great for in the kitchen for help with spills. Or if you ever have a leak in the cellar and need to push the water towards a floor drain.

FlyLady sells a purple version of this called the Rubba Sweepa, which is advertised as their "Rubba Scrubba" hand tool but with a long handle to be used for sweeping (needing little force to operate), scrubbing things that your mop isn't getting up on hard floors, and, like here, getting pet hair out of carpets that your vacuum misses. You can buy the head and handle separately and use multiple heads with the same handle, which for someone who buys a lot of FlyLady cleaning products is nice I suppose. We use ours (when we can find it) as a normal broom on our hard floors, for which it works well, the squeegee part on it flares out at the ends so you can use it to reach into corners that the bristles would struggle with. We don't really get the carpet pet hair claim either; it's not great for that, at least with our carpets.
