Problem is Usky isn't Wilder, as obvious as that sounds. When Wilder is forced backwards, he can't punch because he can't set his feet, he gets them crossed over because he doesn't have good fundamentals. Also, Wilder is a low volume fighter. He isn't throwing out anywhere near the volume of Usky, even when he's moving forward. Usky can fight going backwards and because he can put on a higher pace and throw more punches and feints, he won't be forced backwards to the extent Wilder was.

The media are obsessed with talking Fury into the hall of fame and they all make excuses for him . Ultimately he was saved by the referee and one blind corrupt judge despite Usyk clearly winning 7 rounds at least with a 10 -8 round 9

These people are complete idiots. Wilder 2 game plan destroyed Deontay because he can’t box off the back foot and to be blunt, he can’t box at all. He had one big shot and had beaten no one of note. Usyk is a master of the trade. How often do we hear people say that to beat Usyk, you just need to bully him? Then why has no one been able to pull it off then? He may be a relatively small heavy weight but he’s certainly not a small guy in general. He’s strong, fast, highly skilled and still packs a punch (just look at what he did to fury). Usyk is a generational talent who will go down as one of the greatest to ever do it.
@justinneill5003

After watching this I replayed Fury vs Wilder 2 and Fury did look good in there, but there is no way in this world that he would have got away with it against Usyk. Wilder was being beaten to the punch, he was constantly off balance and every time Fury had him on the back foot he was totally screwed. All he had was that big shot, and all Fury had to do was avoid it and drive him backwards. Usyk is far more mobile, sure footed and clever, with faster reflexes, more accurate, able to fight going backwards, and from any direction. If Fury uses that fight as the blueprint for the Usyk rematch, he is already beaten.

You can't implement the Wilder 2 strategy. Wilder (at this level as in the top 10 boxers in the world) is really poor technically. He got completely outboxed in the first fight by Fury. It didn't take too much to step up intensity and for him to get fitter. But the Usyk fight was completely different. Usyk is far better, boxer technically and, at times, outclassed Fury quite comfortably. I think running into him and trying to knock him out and smothering him won't work. Usyk is great on the back foot. Wilder is terrible.

I agree that Fury should have approached the first fight by imposing all the physical advantages he had like in Wilder II & III e.g. size, weight, strength, reach, even speed at times (Fury throws deceptively quick and from strange angles). He times combinations in an unorthodox way as well, which is why for large parts he gave Usyk a good fight. Never seen Usyk not be 2 steps ahead in a fight before that. But Fury also tried to do what he did against Klitschko and in the first Wilder fight, tickle around and play games on the outside and basically try to draw in the master. He got burned because he doesn’t have the stamina for it anymore and slowed up. I disagree that he’ll win the rematch simply by imposing his physical advantages now - Usyk’s also downloaded the data on him since they first met and will have a plan B, C and D. He’s also in way better condition. Fury can’t win a 12-round fight with Usyk. 70-30 fight and Usyk’s to lose.

Way too much stock being placed on Fury vs Wilder 2 here, that simply doesn't apply to a fight with Usyk. Fury is revered for his ability to read a fight and switch tactics on the fly (similar to Usyk in that respect) so if simply going after Usyk like he did with Wilder was his best bet, why didn't he realise that during the first fight? Because he knew how dangerous Usyk can be on the counter, how well balanced and agile he is, and the crazy angles he can land from. That dynamic isn't going to change in the rematch. As for imposing his size, with the grabbing and leaning, he did try that a few times in the first fight but it was ineffective because Usyk immediately neutralised Fury's free arm every time, and positioned himself to withstand the weight without too much effort. I believe Fury will do what he says and come after Usyk, but will struggle to land clean and is likely to pay a price for it. At any moment when Fury steps back to take a moment, as he often does and certainly did in Wilder 2, Usyk will be straight back in his face and will not give him that moment, just as he didn't in the first fight.

Fury was wary of Usyk thats why he showboated so much out of nervousness he knew how good Usyk was so he showed him too much respect early on. I honestly believe Tyson when he says it was easier than he thought it was gonna be. That said i dont think Usyk will fight the same way in the rematch he'll be more elusive because he knows Fury will come in BIGGER with the intention to get him outta there early. He doesn't fade, his feet are there through 12 rounds and his ring IQ is off the charts. Thats all before we have covered the actual.throwing and landing part. Absolute tosh this is. Saying Fury's strategy against Wilder will work with Usyk only makes a little sense. Nothing more. Wilder tired quickly and didn't have the fitness or agility that Usyk had. True Geordie summed it up brilliantly a while back. While Fury could win with this go forward strategy, he also risks tiring himself and then being open to Usyk's superior fitness. Either way, it will annoy me that if Fury wins, it will be against a near on 38 Usyk whose main strengths are fading. Fury's main strength of size and strength own't. I suspect Fury has always known this, which is why Fury has left it as long as he has. The Usyk that fought Joshua the first time would surely beat Fury from any time in his career. That's my opinion anyway.

Due to the cut Fury obviously had a problem getting enough tough sparring before the Usyk fight. The stamina was the decisive factor. He tried but couldn´t uphold the pressure. As long as he had his full set of capabilities he, to me, never seemed to have serious problems and got in those heavy body shots and uppercuts. Optimal sparring leading up to the fight should do it. 60-40 in favour of Fury in the rematch.

Tyson Fury had no sparring prior to his last fight. Did that make the difference? TF was actually doing well until Usyk broke his nose in the 8th round. Did lack of sparring make TF excessively backfoot in the last 4.5 rounds of that fight? After knocking out Chisora, Haye revealed he was able to do that only because he had intense sparring in his preparation. Perhaps that is what Fury needs as well to compliment what he already has. If Tyson Fury was cut, why would he spar? Even if Tyson Fury did not sustain a cut in early February, he would not spar prior to that May fight because that would expose him as a liar. In all probability, what Team Fury is saying 10 weeks before the rematch is true. Will sparring for the rematch make the difference? That remains to be seen.
