Fusing Glass in your Microwave

Thanks for this video. I can't tell you how many times I've been Chastised for using sea glass and fusing glass together. The glass world gets up in arms about mixing glass. I've been doing it for about a year now. No miss haps yet. Love the way it comes out. Except the purple glass. It fuse out the color and turns clear.

Yes they do get worked up over it. Lol! I’ve never been much of a rule follower and love to go my own way, so trying to fuse sea glass was worth a try. The only thing I didn’t like is that the glass loses the frosted look that make sea glass so special. I’ve never tried purple as I’ve never found much of it.

I just did one in micro for 6 minutes at 1K watts. Cracked and small pieces slide off. Suggestions?

@@virginiaabrunzo247 Sounds like either incompatible COE glass or thermal shock. If you used something like Bullseye it’s probably thermal shock, so you’d have to make sure it was completely cool before removing the cover. If you used Sea glass it’s probably an incompatibility issue.

Do you glue pieces b4 you fire?

When I was fusing with my microwave kiln I don’t think I ever glued things down first. Now that I use the Paragon and Jen Ken kilns I often do. My preferred “glues” are Glastac gel and cheap hairspray. :)
