I appreciate your videos in general. You explain things well and efficiently and your production quality is great. Keep making fusion videos! The small shop that I work at just got into Fusion 360 and they want to me be the main guy, so your videos would help.

One tip on the simulation that may help folks - try turning on the "stop on collision" checkbox, then hit the rapid button to the end of the sim. It will fast forward and stop on any collisions in the timeline. Now you don't have to watch for only the red indicator lines in the timeline which can be thin if you have a long process.

Great stuff to pass on, I don't know that I would ever stumble upon these tricks/shortcuts otherwise. Would love to come to your guys place and take some training as I have a 440 and use F360 strictly. Keep it up brother!

You can protect any toolpath. I find it most useful for protecting 3D finishing toolpaths once they're perfect, especially if I've had to suppress features in the model to get them that way.

Ramp Taper Angle - great tip. Is there any way to add a taper angle to a normal ramp or a however? I use ramp rather or contour (ramp is faster) when profiling a thin (.25-.5" thickness) part on a vacuum table as a final step, but I'd love to add a taper for extra chip clearance. I tried to force it by making the model itself tapered, but that doesn't work for obvious reasons.

Download it and start playing around. There are a ton of great videos, tutorials and forum posts on how to do most things. Just remember, you have to invest some time learning it! This isn't a 5 feature basic tool, it's very robust and built for professionals. That's means some tricks aren't at all obvious to a beginner but are powerful for the experienced.

Totally unrelated but there is a old B-17 out at the Zaneville Airport. Boeing established aeronautical machining in WW2 with their plants. Might be interesting to take a look at if you get time.

I can tell your not a fan of "relative size box" - i actually use "relative size box" for almost for every job i do. (i make military aircraft sight head components) First i model the part in Fusion360, then i select "relative size box" and additionally select "no additional stock". Then i machine the outside of the part to the exact size. Then i can clamp or vise the outside of the part however i like, and machine the inside of it. So point being - some things work for some that don't for others. "Relative size box" is a life saver for us. i just wanted to share that :)

Is there a way to simulate a later toolpath, with the stock as it would be at that point, without having to simulate the earlier toolpaths, too? Seems like this would make sense, especially with rest machining on that operation.
@kevinkillsit
@kevinkillsit 6 жыл бұрын
No, that's why it stays 'pending' until all previous Toolpaths are generated. Otherwise, it won't know what is left for rest machining to go and remove. it would be nice, but it breaks the order of operations for the algorithm to process on the exported STL surface. It's a computer not a psychic so it has to know what the previous ops remove from the stock by doing the required toolpath calcs before it can go forward. That's why it generates top to bottom. you need the answer from the previous question (as a temp STL surface export) before you can use it to solve the next question (ie.. toolpath generation). Hope that makes sense.

I knew most of them I do know that you have gone over #10 quite a few times in other videos but I do like the one about protecting the tool path now this maybe wishfull thinking but imagine if you could simulate surface finish it seems to me that even when you simulate a part the rendering of what is cut is not of the highest quality I mean to me it seems like a computer program should show you in high definition what the part will look like after it is cut including surface finishes wouldn't it be nice if you could simulate surface finish on a part? that would save you alot of time in the long run trying to get your code dialed in!
