In this video I will show an alternate to create soft jaws using the Combine command. I'll also show I how I have my smart vise setup so I can quickly place a component and create the soft jaw cavity to get ready for CAM.

Thanks again Kevin, these videos are pure gold for me, while I try and get to grips with both CAD and CAM in Fusion 360. Really looking forward to the future videos your making for us.

With the first set of soft jaws, the shape of the outer "ears" of the part and how they fit in the jaws wouldn't allow the part to be inserted. Wouldn't you need to create a sketch on top of your jaws, project the geometry, and make a new profile that would allow the part to be inserted and then the jaws closed on it?

For small scale work like 5 to 10 parts I’m now using my 3d printer to make the soft jaws. Way cheaper this way and less messy to make.

It's an option for sure. The drawback for me is that I can cut soft jaws and have them ready in about 5 minutes and know they are dimensionally precise. 3D printing takes much longer on my equipment and I can't seem to plan far enough ahead for that.

Great video, as always Kevin. One question; with the hub soft jaws, why didn't you mirror the second jaw?

8:11 wondering how you setup the parametric jaws? Followed your parametric vise video,would this be the same workflow as setting up the parallels?

What software are you using for your screencasting of these videos?

Hi Kevin, where did you get the parametric vice from? Is it available to download?

Hi Aaron. I did a video showing how I did this on the channel. You can find it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIC0nnSDr7yAnbM I do have quite a few modeled for different manufacturers. What vise and model do you have? I may have one already done.

Don't you have to leave some clearance around the part so it will fit, like at least .0005?
@MechanicalAdvantage6 ай бұрын
I’ve never bothered to do that and haven’t run into any issue. If you wanted to, I would do it in the toolpath instead of the model but adding some negative radial stock to leave so it cuts a smidge larger.

Too funny I just watched the other video and came back here to say never mind you answered it in the other video😂@@MechanicalAdvantage
