In this video I'll show the process for doing a top down design to model a bracket to hold bar stock in my garage. The bracket is designed to fit the space in between the garage door track and the wall.

Nicely done. I envy folks like you that know when a basic design will get the job done. I probably would have kept going until it had motors on it. 😆

It comes from being lazy. What is the least amount I can get away with and still have this thing work? haha

Hey everyone needs a summer break, no need to apologize for no content. Making custom brackets like this is great. I recently used Fusion/plasma/welding to make a monitor arm on my channel. Are you versed enough to explain Fusion's stress analysis tool to cover you're brackets weight limit?

Hi Craig. When I worked in industry, I was always pretty fortunate to have a FEA guy on stuff for that sort of thing. One of them tried to teach me some FEA and that is when I realized how the results were dependent on the study being set up properly The results given are only as good and accurate as the simulation is setup. Sales and marketing wants you to believe anyone can do it, but I'm not so sure on that after working with the pros.

@@MechanicalAdvantage I agree, study setup is key. Just curious, thanks for the reply.

Cool video, but I cannot understand how you'd install it and use it. Perhaps a few shots of it in place and in use would have helped. Ciao, Marco.

Good point. I had him make 10 of these. 5 will get lagged into the 2 x 6’s in the wall I’m a row and 5 will get lagged into the 2 x 6’s a couple of feet below that. Then the bar stock will lay across the rods. Does that make sense?

Just wondering... In regards to your use of an as-built joint between your first component and the origin, is there a reason you use that instead of the 'ground' command?
@MechanicalAdvantage

Good question. There is a reason. Ground only exits in the file it was created in. So if you insert that file into a different design; the part is no longer grounded in that design. An as-built joint is persistent. So even if you insert that file into a different file, the address-built joint is honored in the new design.

@@MechanicalAdvantage I suppose that got me to thinking... Is there as time where don't want that time exist when you insert into a different for? Or may better worded... Is ground still appropriate in some cases?

@@BlackSmokeDMax Here is my thought. It isn’t much harder to create an as-built joint compared to grounding it. I know an as-built joint will work everywhere but grounding doesn’t. So that is my general workflow. Now there is talk of making ground be persistent across design files, but nothing has happened yet. So until then, I’ll just keep using as-built joints for this.
