Thanks! I managed to create a boat at my third attempt. Excellent tutorial! Now i just need to wait for the 3dprint to complete.

Instead of using a line + spline for the bottom of the boat, I used a single spline and could not get loft to create the bottom of the boat. Leant to use project though :)

Hi, Thank you very much.This was the easiest way to design a boat. just have a question. let say if you want to make this with plywood, how can we put each side in 2D so we can have a drawing for cut out? Thanks

Yes, please more boat-design. Cheers.

Nice, i have never used loft like this before, i clearly need to start working with surfaces more, earlier i have basically exclusively worked with solids and sketches

Can you please show how to design the ribs?
@B_Hizzle4 ай бұрын
Do you offer your services to the public? I have e an idea for a boat I’d like to build, I’d basically like to borrow key features of three different boats and combine to make a hybrid version of all 3
@dejayrezme86176 жыл бұрын
Does fusion 360 have any tool to support designing an object for "stitch and glue" technique? Like unwrapping the surfaces of an object. For simple to build boats using plywood and zip ties and then gluing them. Or how you design those paper models.
@Fusion360NewbiesPlus6 жыл бұрын
Hey Delay, you should watch my video "Turn a 3D model into 2D pattern". The software that I'm showing there, that's what you need. F360 can't do what you are looking for.

Oh thank you! Yeah I checked the forum and they want to add the feature but haven't yet. Will check out your video.

BTW for designing boats there is specialty software, "Hull" by carlsondesign and FreeShip. But that is a whole other rabbit whole you better not look into :D

also, the widest point of a boat is its 'beam'. good video, but for a sailboat you need a keel. like a fin that sticks down in the water, I'm trying to design a 3d printed sailboat and wonder if it would be better to print the keel and hull separately? thanks for the free knowledge

Thank you for that video. Is there any way to use this workflow, if you need deck and transom to be curved surfaces? I don't get it, if i have flat shape sketches, how to make 3d sketch curves from them in ortho projection intersections and then to use them as carcass for hull loft?

At 3:00 you "Attach Canvas", but you did not attach canvas? or I did not see the canvas being attached? Also at 10:30 I'm not having any luck from here to 12:50 I can offset the plane, but I can not select the points and draw that line from the point to point which I want to use.
@Fusion360NewbiesPlus7 жыл бұрын
Hey there, It is very easy to attach a canvas. Watch this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6vTkJyKr9WrsJo The points can be sometimes not easy to see, but they are there. Try to change the position of the camera, it will help.
@SupaNautica7 жыл бұрын
Fusion 360 NewbiesPlus I know how to attach canvas, but there wasn't a canvas attached at the time I mentioned above. Apart from that, I think my computer is struggling with size of the graphics changes going on when I'm performing the changes.

Fusion 360 NewbiesPlus have you played with Sheet Metal? I'd like to design the boat and then have it flatten down into a sheet metal area, ready to cut out the boat parts
@Fusion360NewbiesPlus7 жыл бұрын
I mentioned the canvas, because that was the point if someone would design a boat based on a canvas, so that is the time to add it. I designed that boat from my head :)
@Fusion360NewbiesPlus7 жыл бұрын
You are right, it's time to get into Sheet Metal. I will make a video as soon as I'll feel comfortable with it. Till then, you could ask the forum, how to convert the hull that you created into a Sheet Metal, if it's possible!

Hi Kevin, Thanks for the nice words. I'm not really advertising my channel, which is why I think, I don't have that many subscribers. And, I started in August 2016, so my channel is fairly new! As you probebebly noticed, my videos are mostly focusing on techniques and not just Tips & Tricks or redoing what some else already done. I have a day job (and a life beside), but I'm doing my best to contribute to the community as much as I can. The feedback that I'm getting from you guys, helps me and motivates me even more to create more videos. Cheers/ B.

This video is the first video I have found of 90% of what I'm looking for, but the video gives me the skills to 100% do what I'm wanting to do, because I can fill the complex spaces between certain lines. I'm used to doing it the manual way - drawing lines from one end to another end, reating the 'teeth' that later smooth out into the 'surface.' Thank you so much for this video. Hopefully I will be able to do what it is I'm doing and then replicate it easily again when I'm not away from home and using my more powerful PC to record at the same time, again, for the community. Salut!

Yacht sounds like yhat, you don't pronounce the C. like wat but with a yh instead of a w... at least that's how we say it in the USA the brits could be different, sounds like you said yak which is a big smelly bovine, kinda funny to imagine people lounging in swimsuits on a giant yak in the ocean. good English otherwise, your command of the language is impressive.
