Thank you so much for your tutorials!!! This is now the seventh video of yours that I've watched in a row. With growing enthusiasm! The instructions shown in this video enable me to create custom cabinet fronts for my living room - with irregular (= more interesting...) patterns! I think your tips are very valuable, and not just for a layman like me! Brilliant!!!

Finding a method to achieve the shape is almost a puzzle. That technique at the end where you can adjust everything exactly to taste is going to help me take my designs to the next level. Thanks you.

Brilliant as usual. Midplane between two principal planes, I never thought of that possibility.

The little tips in your videos are golden, this time for me the midplane using two perpendicular planes. I would never even try to do so.

First method *can* be precise. If you apply some basic trigonometry math to it and use those to define some parameters to give you the right taper angle and extrusion distance for your desired depth and triangle size. Embrace the power of math! This would be my preferred method of the three since it keeps the timeline the most compact, needs only 1 sketch, and is the quickest to perform. It would however not as easily allow the amount of control with the third method (though you theoretically could, with some more math, and still only 1 sketch). Definitely thankful for learning about that loft trick! There's some marvelous hidden gems in these tutorials about F360.

Great video as always! My favorite part is when I think how I would do it and then you do it that way and say it's the best! Its like a gold star for the day! It doesn't happen very often. Thanks again!

My approach is to use a 3D sketch to draw the edges, then patch and stitch.

Great video! I wonder whether you consciously consider several other options and then rule them out (too many steps, object clutter, lack of control...) or if you filter them unconsciously. I would find it very interesting if you put up an object, asked for comments on modeling approaches, then did a follow-up video explaining why you wouldn't use each submission except for the handful of reasonable approaches.

Would a 3d sketch from corners to point work the same?
@Chaphasilor

Love the third method, I also though of that at the start but was surprised Fusion automatically performs a cut. Is there a way to change that, e.g. to a new body? Otherwise this feels like a lack of control... Another way I came up with involves creating the two sketches with the triangle and point, and then adding a third 3D sketch for adding the three inner lines of the pattern, from the corners of the triangle to the point. Then use Patch to add three surface bodies, mirror & circular pattern them, and finally add the walls and bottom of the box before stitching everything into a surface body :)
@Fusion360School
@Fusion360School Жыл бұрын
When you create a body that overlaps with an existing body, Fusion would automatically assume you want a cut. You can override this by changing the operation to new body or join. The method of creating patch surfaces is definitely an option to consider. Though it is quite a bit of work to create the panels manually.

how are you changing the edges dynamically like that at the end??

If you leave any sketch entity undefined, you are able to drag them dynamically without entering the sketch.

@@Fusion360School Now you are getting fancy. How could you use that final example of multi-planer non-constraint on a sphere? I guess you could have concentric spheres with points on an inner sphere. to loft from. but I don't know if you could move it around as you did on the sketch planes....?

Lofting to a point isn't that rare, particularly if your creating boat hulls - most start at a point and some even end at a point.

Sir, I wish I could call you by your name, but not knowing that, I hope you do not mind calling you F360Guru. I see you referenced many times Reddit as communication tool. Is that the only method you use for eventual questions? For personal principle I say away from General social media channels (Facebook, Twiter, Instagram....), Hope you have another way for receiving questions. If you do I would appreciate knowing it
